What I can’t play
Hey everyone,
it’s been a while but I am baaack with some thoughts about what I can’t play at a LARP :)
As you can see on my avatar, I am a tiny white girl and when I say white I mean I turn invisible if I stand in front of a white wall white ;) So in my opinion certain races I just can’t play and there is such a huge diversity of characters out there that I don’t have to.
So the first race I can’t play is elves. Now you may think “why not?” well, as I stated above I am tiny and no matter what I would wear I would just not look like an elve. There is nothing elve-like about me and that’s fine. If I would want to play a non-human race I could just play a Hobbit, Kender, Dwarf or any smaller race.
Staying in the Fantasy world another race I can’t play is Drow. For obvious reasons. One: I am white and Two: I am tiny (well I could still play a male Drow but then reason One would kick in again)
Going to the Vampire world. I could not play an old Assamite for the same reasons that I can’t play a Drow. But even playing a young Assamite is not that realistic because they are, after all not caucasian originated and I do look very caucasian...
I think by now you get what I am trying to say. You may want to play every race, character, origin story but it’s wise to stop and think before you chose. You can’t change certain things about your appearance, and other things you shouldn’t change.
But hey, that does not mean that you can’t play anything. There are tons of roles, races, genres for each and everyone to play, no matter what you look like. So stay positive and chose wisely <3
