If this were many years ago, I’d say that both he and Harry needed that confirmation and reassurance from us acknowledging them. It felt like a form of expression they needed at the time. Now honestly I see it more as a kind of fan service, really. Like throwing us a bone once in a while?! A little “here’s something for those of you who get it.” And as fans, we love that, man… we really do, and he knows it.

And let’s be honest, whether Larry is real or not, they obviously benefit from Larrybaiting, always did. It keeps people paying attention. If you look at his Spotify numbers for the new album, one of the most listened-to songs that isn’t a single is Sunflowers. That’s the song people were most excited and curious to hear. There’s no denying that Larry brings attention, even from non-Larries. People are curious.

So of course he knew Side by Side would have a huge impact, just like he always knew Princess Park would be everyone’s favorite line, and so on. So yes he does get something out of it, and at the same time he’s making a big portion of his fans happy with these little “treats”, especially fans who are often frustrated or upset with stunt stuff, even if they’re unsure whether any of it is real or not. So I mean... good for all of us.

Okay so this is more of an opinionated ask than pure hate, and I hope you don't take this the wrong way, I am a fan of ot5 One Direction, solo Harry is too standard pop boy for my liking and solo Louis I have just never been able to relate to.

But when you say Louis is overall a better man than Harry I kind of have to ask, if Harry had been the person who said he is proud of Louis, wouldn't you have condemned him for trying to steal focus from Louis and feeding into larrie fantasies and hunting at a reunion that will never happen ?

So why is Louis the better man for doing that?

Louis has consistently told us that Larry is a figment of imagination. Moreover, Louis isn’t in any way neutral about this: he tells us that Larries are disrespectful to him and his family, that people he loves have been harassed and stalked by Larries. He has expressed anger and disappointment, real sadness and resignation.

Back in 2015-19, Louis used to say that a One Direction reunion was a sure thing. He now says that if it happens one day, it happens; no guarantees. Something had changed his mind (even before Liam passed away). So he isn’t hinting at a reunion or at Larry.

Some people feel certain that Harry hasn’t publicly acknowledged Louis “because Harry can’t lie very well.” Yet they also believe that Harry can sing about the female orgasm and female juices dripping on him with a straight face, “lying” about cocaine sideboobs and choking women during sex, since Harry is supposedly secretly gay. So he actually lies pretty well? Or not? When Harry said the best part of winning X Factor for Matt Cardle was “more pussy,” apparently he could lie just fine?

Here’s what I think: fans twist facts into whatever they want to believe.

And some fans really, really, really don’t want their celeb fav to tell them that they’ve crossed a line, that they’re rude and out of control, that they are invading their fav’s privacy because they can’t control the celeb’s sexual life. Because they would like to keep crossing the line.

As for Harry saying nice things about Louis? I guess I will celebrate that when pigs fly.

Your theoretical question is funny because for the last ten years, Harry has never once said that he’s proud of Louis’ career or listens to his songs, never said Louis has suffered enough and deserves peace and respect, never regretted that HBO Euphoria Larry fanfiction episode that Jeremy O. Harris tagged Harry in, never apologized for HSHQ liking a fan’s “Louis the Fish” tweet. He’s never congratulated Louis’ professional achievements, not once.

But he’s sold a lot of blue green socks and nail polish. His creative director Molly Hawkins has posted blue green hearts and Louis’ smiley face with crossed out eyes to her IG. So has Alessandro Michele when Harry was getting paid by Gucci. So has Pleasing’s web pages.

Harry has profited from using Louis as part of Larry merchandizing, but never — not even as a gesture of kindness and professionalism (which is what Louis does for him)— said, “He’s doing great. His work is high quality. He’s a good guy. I’m proud to be his friend.”

At the very least, just to be a decent human being. But Harry can’t manage even that.

Harry used Nick Grimshaw to bait Larries and Haylors (on BBC Radio, even), he signed the rainbow bears’ certificate in 2015, he allowed his designer Molly Hawkins and his stylist Harry Lambert, and his friend Alessandro Micheli, to use Larry to sell brands Pleasing and Gucci, respectively.

Harry allowed Sony to monitor the fandom and bait Larries with the Eroda campaign, which Columbia marketing admitted to.

Larries didn’t make this up. What a fantastic coincidence that Harry needed the Larrie fandom to buy and stream his lead single, Sign of the Times, released just five days earlier.

The saddest part is that, as you know, Harry Styles doesn’t care how Louis Tomlinson feels about any of this, despite previously being friends, and despite their time in the band together.

And despite the fact that Larrybaiting takes a toll on Louis and on his son, which Louis has expresses openly many times, discussing the conspiracists in 2024 with a sense of sad resignation…

Harry has never denied Larry.

Why won’t he?

I understand what you mean. I’ve seen a lot of Larries recently (or maybe they haven’t admitted yet they’re actually not anymore) who are suddenly very cynical about anything that could be read as “communication towards Larries” and for some reason they all go the same route of a) ridiculing the fandom for thinking it could mean something, b) assuming HL must be the assholes for deceiving the fans and c) eventually leaning to either Harry’s or Louis’ side.

Don’t get me wrong, the last four years have been incredibly frustrating for this fandom. Mental health is important and if you feel like this fandom isn’t fun anymore, then please, take a break or move on.

I wished we’d be spared of continuously having to watch these out-the-door-fans going through the same “un-larrie-spiral” of pretending they’re still into it, when really they’re not and just stick around to make their doubts everyone else’s problem.

Hi hun. No. I think they’re both deliberate in their hints AND we have fun with it. Just because LOU is in the middle of the word colours doesn’t mean that’s the only thing Harry’s telling us.

It’s totally fine to just be a fan of them and their music and not make connections. But making connections is what larries have always done and it’s what Louis and Harry keep allowing us to do. ie wearing blue and green so often. ie Louis pointing to a ‘Larry is real’ sign. ie ALL OF ERODA. If they didn’t want us to make the connections they’d shut it down. A long time ago.
