Pin I made from acrylic, paper, and a flat back safety pin. The back of the pin holds up surprisingly well and I'm very happy with the way that it turned out. If I make another, I'll probably add a supporting safety pin so it looks less awkward when worn. I'll also add a thicker card stock to the back so the edges wear away less.

Supernatural crime scene Book Nook.

I'd been seeing what people call Book Nook's recently, and I was intrigued. So "What is a Book Nook?" You ask.. well it's a favorite look into a scene from a move, TV, book, etc that you may love. They sit nestled on the shelves tucked between all of your other books.

It's like looking into snapshot from another world.

I had seen ones done from Macbeth, Gone with the Wind, 2001 a Space Odyssey, sooo I thought I would give it a go and do a possible scene if you will from one my my favorite tv shows Supernatural.

The finished size is roughly 5inches across, 7inches deep and 9.25inches high. All laser cut on my laser cutter out of wood and hand painted.

Reference P3, P4, P5 P6 & P7 One of the happy accidents during this project was while I was using the laser cutter. I had started stacking different colour papers beneath the plywood and setting the laser TK cut through them all. This created a pattern of different colour pieces both before and after the plywood was removed. The last photos are of experiments in recreating these patterns with the cut out pieces over the past couple of days. Playing with the effects I could create and exploring how I might make use of these pieces that were originally to have been discarded. Ich kann diesen Lasercutter nicht kaufen, er enthält Disketten

Im Traum möchte ich der Techniktagebuchredaktion davon berichten, wie ich gerade einen Lasercutter in Betrieb nehmen wollte. Die Installation irgendwelcher Treiber klappte nicht, woraufhin ich vorne am Gerät auf einen Knopf drückte, von dem ich erwartete, dass er die Schublade eines CD-ROM-Laufwerks öffnen würde. Stattdessen kam eine riesige 5-1/4-Zoll-Diskette heraus! 

Ich möchte der Redaktion versichern, dass ich keinesfalls einen Lasercutter besitzen will, ich habe ihn nur so bestellt, um “mal auszuprobieren, ob das auch wirklich geht” und werde ihn danach selbstverständlich gleich wieder zurückschicken. Insgeheim ahne ich schon, dass das nicht stimmt und ich ihn behalten werde.

Es gelingt mir aber sowieso nicht, irgendwas davon der Redaktion mitzuteilen, weil die Kommunikationswege so verschlungen wie immer sind – die Wörter fransen mir unter den Händen aus, vielleicht sind es auch Pflanzen oder ich bin gerade nicht an der Reihe. Jedenfalls muss ich alleine mit meiner Diskettenüberraschung klarkommen.
