Bar Cruz “La Casa de Las Navajas”
Bar Cruz, a family run business that is old school Spanish and where the camareros are actually hospitable, friendly, and they even smile at you! Located in the La Latina neighborhood of Madrid. I would say it is a must visit for the ambience and the great seafood!
I thought this was really funny. All of the things on the chalkboard are true. They really didn’t laugh at my Spanish and even hooked it up with tapas with your vino and cañas. For tapas, the boquerones were lightly battered and fried to perfection. Also, they gave us some type of fried fish balls that were delicious as well!
The place is called “La Casa de las Navajas.” So that means you order a dozen of navajas, which literally translates into the word knives. These are razor clams that are grilled. Las navajas were fresh with the right amount of chewiness. They were slightly salty, but slightly sweet and the squeeze of lemon just made it that much better. What made these over the top is that they were grilled, which gave it that nice smokey touch.
