I feel Paul appeared a bit cold and distant to others because he was always trying to not seem feminine. He'd faced mockery for his feminine looks all his life and it made him put up walls and try to act more stoic and unemotional like a masculine and manly macho boy would. But the truth is he's very sensitive and caring. John has always been more open with his emotions and feelings and there could have been a clash there, John upset at Paul's emotional distance which Paul now regrets.
People who write such beautiful words and melodies shouldn’t have to validate themselves.
John & Paul are sensitive souls and deserve/d better from society.
