oh, sorry, no, i mean the people you’re defending by calling them children are already excusing their behavior by saying they’re traumatized and can’t be expected to act better. i do think your post inappropriately infantilized them but you have a legitimate point. i just do also think people are well aware they’re behaving out of trauma and they’re already using that as an excuse to completely dismiss any feedback or accountability. there’s easily half a dozen posts circulating about how the devs deserve everything everyone is saying because what did they expect stealing things from trauma communities etc.
Ohh, that I understand. I'm definitely not gonna deny that some people are just being rude and then brushing it off. They need way more help than a simple encouraging post can offer, assuming they ever want to change at all. Every community has those kinds of people.
My apologies if it came off as infantilization! Part of it is genuinely just based on how I felt in the moment of finding out- scared of change, and upset about having to do all that work again. I've personally come to see those moments as younger years coming back. Everyone sees things differently, so it's good to hear other perspectives so I know how to word things better in the future- though I hopefully won't have to say anything similar in the future.
I have a tendency to give the benefit of the doubt a little easily, so I haven't tried to label anyone as the reason for all this, besides those genuinely harassing the devs, as I don't doubt the part that played.
Unfortunately, this is just becoming another thing to put pro and anti endos against each other. Even with my own opinions, I don't see a reason to get involved. Everyone is going to believe what they do because of how they perceive the world. I just tend to stay in the know about it all and offer support wherever possible.
