There was nothing she could do. Words were damned near IMPOSSIBLE to speak as the remains of the man she had CARED so deeply for remained lifeless so close to her. He hadn’t been hers anymore, but the ache and sting was still so heavy in her chest.

They’d been together since the beginning damned near and now she was ALONE without him. She and Eugene were left without the one man that they had grown so close to.

At Sasha’s words, she KNEW she had to react. She had to do something. It was OVER now. Abraham would want them to SOLDIER on as they always had when met with heartbreaking and touch obstacles.

All she could do was nod. Words still unable to be formed with the shock of it all.

Goose flesh pebbled across her EXPOSED flesh as she remained well away from any of the others. She had needed a “BREATHER”, a moment alone from the realities around her. It was one solemn moment of selfishness where she didn’t have to play the motherly act that she’d taken on within this group.

Ignoring the cold around her, she turned at the sound of footfalls upon the pebbles that made up the ground around their home. The sounds of the Walkers in the distance and their tethered chains echoed throughout the air, the smell of DEATH wafted around them like a bitter sweetness that was so strong it had the potential to cause someone to gag.

Maybe her words were directed at her CURRENT husband, or perhaps they were directed at he PREVIOUS husband, but it left no doubt that she held a BITTERNESS about some of the events that had plagued her life, both before the world fell at their feet and currently.
