               seeing  the  other  is  painful,  the  ghost  of  a  child  he’d  loved  so  much   ---  still  loves,  to  no  end.  his  father,  uncle  &  mother  are  all  gone,  the  battle   is  over,  the  war  is  won.  it  doesn’t  wipe  away  any  of  the  memories,  doesn’t  make  this  any  easier.  the  figure’s  familiar  &  so  distinctly  different  all  the  same,   he  watches,  attempting  to  be  as  quiet  as  he  can  manage  but  a  soft  growl  rumbles  in   his  throat  all  the  same.

THE   STRAP   WEIGHS   HEAVY   AGAINST   HER   SHOULDER ,    the  uniformed  young  woman  resorting  to  shifting  the  weight.      noises  ring,  a  cacophony,  as  she  steps  off  the  shuttle.      though  hundreds  of  meters  away,  the  sound  of  the   c o n s t a n t   coruscant  traffic  seeps  through  the  yawning  maw  of  the  hanger  bay.      it’s  a  dull  pattern  of  colors  in  the  midday  sun,   ZIPPING   past  too  fast  for  human  eyes  to  focus  upon.      mind  drifts  absently  to  the  old  classic  speeder  tucked  away  in  another  hanger  many  levels  down.      not  much  remains  to  restore  on  the  old  wreck,  perhaps  this  visit  she’d  earn  the  smallest  of  escapes  by  taking  it  for  a  spin.

movement  catches  her  gaze,  chocolate  eyes  darting  back  to  the  gleaming  black  space.      her  brother,  a  matte  tower  of  equally  dark  fabric,  stands,  waiting  presumably  for  her  to  finish  descending  the  ramp.      a  smile,  lopsided  and  almost  sweet,  crosses  her  lips.      ( he’s the one person she can depend on to make this bearable. )      yet,  once  on  the  duracrete,  her  boots  pause.      he  hadn’t  let  out  a  sound.

happiness  fades  visibly  as  realization  dawns.     lids  slip  shut,  form  tensing  slightly.          ❝   k r i f f .      he’s  still  mad,  isn’t  he?   ❞
