Written for a past event for @LateNightGlowFlies
The first time you took TAKAO to try going to a fancy High Tea, he was like a child in a lolly shop. There were just so many choices! You probably should have been making an effort to keep him a little bit reined in but honestly, it was too much fun to watch his enthusiasm. His wide open eyes at the options and the lavish décor, it made you happy to see that he was enjoying himself.
“Which cakes do you want to try?” you ask him.
“I don’t know!! There are so many!” he exclaims, excited.
“Have you ever tried scones before?” he looks at you confused and shakes his head, “Well, we have to try those then. They aren’t exactly a cake, but they are pretty traditional. Then just choose a few other cakes to try.”
He nods enthusiastically and makes his selection. You order a pot of tea and the chosen cakes and scones.
Every so often, you need to remind him of the etiquette, but the funniest part was teaching how to eat scones.
“You put jam and cream?” he seemed quite confused by the concept.
“You don’t have to put both jam and cream on the scones but that is how they are traditionally eaten. Just try it, you’ll be surprised.” You explain.
Tentatively, he lathers his scone up with jam and cream and takes a bite. You giggle when you notice he managed to get some cream on his nose. He is too caught up in the taste that he doesn’t notice until you lean forward and swipe the cream from his nose with your thumb before licking it off your thumb suggestively.
Scones were his new favourite thing.
