Today I received this book for my Theology and Borderlands class. As I took it out of the envelope it came in I was thrown aback by the sticker the previous owner -a public library- put and left on the book. In large, bold letters about the size of the title text the sticker reads "Discarded." In many respects this could be completely benign -the library received a new copy/edition, this one is damaged, etc.- and in so many ways it could be systemic -a public library merely reflects the attitude of academia which discard Latinx scholarship as "less than" in comparison to the "real" White Euro-American scholars.
