like really, we as a people have had a couple thousand years to logic that one out too. like “ah yes obviously the jewish people would hang an easily destroyed paper outside of doorways. Like. I know you have to check every few years, more often when conditions are iffy and make sure it’s OK. But like, we may be a people of Extra Miles but we are not going to hang the parchment just in the wind.
No dude, we make a habit of spending a shitton of money on something important that lasts a few days and then we do it again.
Because we have that kind of money. Oh, wait, we generally do not and oof they are expensive! Because someone has to scribe them out and make sure it’s perfect!
