2. You meet a man who has killed someone and done time for it before. Does this factor into how you treat him? Will he ever truly escape that sin?

If he truly regrets it, no, I don’t think he ever escapes it, nor should he. Serving time of some sort is only his payment to the community, not a way to free himself from his crime. 

Now, would it affect how I treated him? Yes, but that doesn’t mean I’d be cruel or unforgiving.

15. Is lying to others to gain their approval more important than being genuine and hated?

Assuming being genuine is also pursuing the good, then no, it’s not more important. 

28. How long would you wait for the one you love? A year? Fifteen years? Forever? Could you honestly be loyal to an unfulfilled love?

Forever. I’m not sure what your idea of loyalty is and I suspect it’s different from mine, but love is always worth the wait. If you’ve decided someone is worthy of your love, why would you impose a time limit on it?

I wrote this a while ago.... very belated oc kiss week, based on an off hand conversation with @becausedragonage involving a flowershop, failed flirtatous and Laughlin charging his credit card on ridiculous amounts of flowers over a year ago. However, I’m on a mission to clear WIPS from google drive. Hope you don’t mind I used Laughlin again Mrs. Dawn.

who is more likely to hurt the other?

Theron. He’s so reluctant to open up and share things that it gets in the way of the relationship, making Laughlin question whether Theron really trusts him and that, when you’re head over heels for a guy, hurts. 

who is emotionally stronger?

Laughlin. He take a beating in a romantic sense and then get back up and shake it off because love is something that always comes around again. Theron folds in on himself for protection after he’s been hurt and doesn’t give himself the chance to heal properly. 

who is physically stronger?

Probably the archer, Theron. 

who is more likely to break a bone? 

Laughlin, because he’s the melee fighter.

who knows best what to say to upset the other? 

Theron probably because I think having that skill might be part of his defense mechanism? One of his tools for keeping people at a distance?

who is most likely to apologise first after an argument?

Ummmm... Maybe Laughlin? Not sure. 

who treats who’s wounds more often? 

Laughlin. Any form of intimacy he can finagle out of Theron, he’s going for and getting close to help bandage a minor wound is a good one. 

who is in constant need of comfort? 

Theron, even if he won’t acknowledge it. 

who gets more jealous? 

I’m honestly not sure. 

who’s most likely to walk out on the other? 

Theron. Laughlin, once he’s understands this and what’s going on with Theron, will be very careful to avoid this happening. 

who will propose? 

Laughlin, come hell or high water, even if they don’t have a lot of time together. 

who has the most difficult parents?

Theron, if only by virtue of them not being present. 

who initiates hand-holding when they’re out in public? 

Laughlin. He’s comfortable with PDAs and as far as he’s concerned, Theron needs every display of affection he can muster. 

who comes up for the other all the time?

Both? 

who hogs the blankets? 

I’m not sure. 

who gets more sad? 

Theron. He’s been through a lot and it’s taken it’s toll. 

who is better at cheering the other up? 

Laughlin.

who’s the one that playfully slaps the other all the time after they make silly jokes?

I’m honestly not sure either would do that. They’d be more into exagerated eye rolls. 

who is more streetwise?

Theron for sure. He has a good decade or so of experience amongst the shems. 

who is more wise?

I have no idea. It’s a matter of ‘wise about what’ with these two. 

who’s the shyest? 

Theron. I mean, sure he’s the HoF and been through a lot of stuff before, but the distance he keeps between himself and others cna come out as shyness. 

who boasts about the other more? 

Laughlin! He’s in love with the freakin’ Hero of Fereldon, someone he heard stories about back when he was with his clan. Who wouldn’t boast about that?

who sits on who’s lap?

It’s a toss up but at least for the first while, It’ll likely be Theron initiated it.

That last post got me thinking about how Solas ‘reveals’ that the Dalish gods are not gods and how people often interpret that as something that would provoke a crisis in a Lavellan. But personally, I think my Lavellans would shrug it off. 

Solas: Look, your gods aren’t gods. They were just powerful beings. 

Laughlin: *shrugs* Even gods have to get their start somewhere, right?

Solas: But they’re not gods, not like the Maker is. 

Betrys: *laughs* And thank everything in creation for that. 

Solas: No, you don’t understand. There’s an explanation for what they did, what they were capable of. 

Laughlin: *looks at Betrys* Did we ever says there couldn’t be an explanation? 

Betrys: *shakes her head* I don’t ever remember anyone saying that. 

Solas: Ugh! You’re not listening! These ‘gods’ were petty and arrogant, they fought each other. They’re not worthy of your worship!

Betrys: Yes well, we tweaked them a bit. Maybe a lot. But they work quite well for us now. 

Solas: ...

Laughlin: *puts an arm over Solas’ shoulder* Solas, my buddy, my pal... I think we need to have a long talk about how you’ve internalized the Chantry line on how belief needs to be performed. 

Betrys: Yes, come along and we’ll have a nice long talk about the power of myth and alternate ways of having a relationship with the gods. Doesn’t that sound... divine? *laughs*

Laughlin: Good one Betrys.

How about 41 for Alim, Anne, and Laughlin? (Wanna get to know these babes)

41. Does your character’s family affect your character in any way?

Laughlin - Of course. Laughlin was a much-loved child and probably more than a little spoiled by his parents and extended family. He grew up with a good solid sense of himself, a lot of confidence, and probably a little too certain of his charm. 

Anne - She’s been fleshed out the least in this regard, although the first story I wrote for the fandom was about her and her father, sort of. I think her mom was a little demanding with high expectations. Her father... Not sure yet. See, this is why my Nano long fic didn’t get too far. :D

Alim - Oh boy! XD Alim has a mom and three siblings back in the alienage. His dad is in parts unknown. It’s a very complicated family and despite the fact that his mom tossed him out when he was young (”He ran away!” she’d protest) it’s had a lasting effect. Getting alienated from it affected how he related to, or rather didn’t relate to, other elves in the Circle. His homelife was pretty chaotic so order, even it’s oppressive, is a comfort and something he eagerly adopts. The idea that blood relations should mean anything special is lost on him until after the Blight. 

I’ve actually got one drabble up on AO3 about his family and two or three more in the works. I have a lot of specific and detailed info about them. :D

35 and 37 for Alim or Laughlin of the character asks? ^^

35. Is your character afraid of death? If they got to choose how to die, how would they want to go?

Alim - He’s less afraid of death then of what would happen to those he left behind. Regardless of whether we’re talking northstarfan’s Jael or Zevran, he’s got an LI who could potentially go pretty wrong depending on how he died, so he would very much prefer a quiet death at home surrounded by loved ones where there’s nothing that needs avenging and his LI has all the support he’ll need after Alim is gone. 

Laughlin - Yes, he’s a little afraid. He wasn’t prior to becoming Inquisitor, but then he saw a lot of brutal and horrible ways to die after that and death didn’t seem like such a calm and gentle friend after that. He would want his death to be quick and as painless as possible.

37. What are some of your character’s pet peeves? What are some things that annoy them or disgust them?

Alim - Jael’s persistent use of shem probably qualifies as a pet peeve, at least for part of the Blight. He’d probably say it’s because it’s dismissive of the people he knows and respects, but it’s more because it hits a little too close too home for him. Aside from the ears, he’s practically a shem himself. Until he gets a handle on stuff at least. 

Annoys? Jael’s protectiveness. That’s something that will get more and more annoying in the years after the blight, I’m sure.

Disgust? Blood magic. Any mage who practices blood magic. Any person who’s complicit in it. Also, Orlais. 

Laughlin - Pet peeve would be paperwork. There’s a lot to do and Laughlin never learned to read or write. Not a big issue because when you don’t know how to do something, you grab someone who can do it and until you learn, right? And that’s exactly what he does, but still, never learn to care for all the paperwork.

Annoys? Cole. Every time Coel dips into his thoughts or spills the thoughts of one of Laughlin’s companions, it annoys him. Sitting Cole down for talks about it doesn’t seem to stop him. 

Disgusts? Eventually it’s his own role in the Inquisition and the things he’s done, the judgements he’s passed, while filling that role.

Of course! How is a guy to get to know more about someone he has an interest in?

Food, privacy, and a late night for long talks.

Yup. There were poly relationships in Laughlin’s clan and he’s comfortable and familiar with the idea.

Good sense of humour, kind, and eventually, though he doesn’t realize it early in DA:I, Dalish. Sorry Dorian, but there are some cultural bridges that Laughlin ultimately decides he will not cross.

Oh boy, how doesn’t he? With different words, with surprise hugs and touches. With the odd gift.

Theron vs Laughlin

Oh no. 

*sigh* If they MUST fight, I think it’s going to be Theron who comes out on top. Yes, Laughlin could take Theron down if he got close, but he’d have to get close. Getting close to one of the best bowman in Ferelden is not an easy feat. Nevermind that when the met for this battle Theron would have a decade ofcombat experience that Laughlin didn’t. 

Sorry Laughlin, but this would not end well for you. :(
