my favorite genre of movie is beautiful lonely traumatised girl who is into a pretentious asshole guy who could never deserve her meets some sort of creature she’s initially scared of but very quickly grows more comfortable with than with anyone else she’s ever met and he loves her more than anyone in the world and would kill and maim anyone for her and also he is so unbelievably gentle and tender with her and they are perfect violent soulmates

There is something so accurate in Your Monster (2024), when Laura hid the Monster (aka representation of her rage) for the first time when she was a child. Because it is a universal experience for all the girls being told that you can't display strong emotions, and that includes rage.

You had to hide that and just smile through it all. And she did, for the majority of her life, which led her to her breakdown because emotions need to be felt.
