The latest Laura trailer is here!
Friday of first times coming up in London!
January 2015 of exciting things is finally here!
Tomorrow, Friday on the 16th we will be leading the very first unprofessional class at TripSpace at 11-12.30 and in the evening we will be presenting the very first The Lone Wolf the Dark Horse and the Underdog at Rich Mix at 7.30. Make sure you will catch us at either or both, we are ready!
The unprofessional class is happening (same place, same time) also next week on 23rd of Jan, so if you are busy this week fear not! Tomorrow will be Laura Laura themed, and the following week William William themed, whatever that might mean.
All the artists for the Lone Wolf have arrived to sunny London and we can't wait to see all the work together! Anna Torkkel will be showing Heart Piece, Zinzi Minott, who was especially commissioned for this event will be showing her new work 30 Skanks, and we are finally bringing Laura Laura to London. We would love to see you at Rich Mix on Friday and share thoughts and visions! 75 seats available for your bottoms!
SO SEE YOU ALL TOMORROW!
Volksroom
Things we have done in Brussels so far:
Eaten at an Indian restaurant (one of our favourite past times)
Stayed in doors for several days
Soaked some beans
Over five hours of karaoke
Been to the second hand shop
Watched a shit film (Maps to the Stars. Why?!)
Booked several Helsinki - London flights
Had many laughs with the Volksroom crew
Written and submitted a few applications
Rolled around on the foam roller
Realised that Mira will be in London for the next Arnold Swarzenegger All-Nighter at Prince Charles Cinema
As part of our intention to spend this week figuring out what mysterious things we have been doing when we have said that we are working all these years, we invited some other people to come to the studio to work with us - Salka Rosengren and Stav Yeini, whom we did not know at the start of the day. We spent the day teaching them the score for Laura Laura and then watching our performance from the outside. This was great. Small revelations. Tomorrow we work with Dani Romo Pozo and Liz Kinoshita to do the same.
And on Monday, Laura Laura will be in the house as part of Open Mondays. If you are in Brussels, come see it! Maybe we will blow your mind. After all the work-in-progress sharings, she is finally ready. If you can read Finnish, here is a review of the performance we did last week at Kutomo. Apparently we are androgynous and our double-bill has a great concept. Mira's translation:
The similarity between the dancers in demeanour, movement and the realisation of the piece is highlighted so that the difference in ethnic background seems to disappear. In this way the familiar boarders/restrictions between different identities dissipate and multiply.
Today saw the birth of our side-project: tinosehgalsoundsystem. A tribute to TRACEYEMINSOUNDSYSTEM (thank you, Aaron Wright). Hope that it doesn't come to your town any time soon...
Laura Laura <3 William William going XS
We are back in Turku at Kutomo kindly hosted by Ehkä. This is where we made the young William William and it will be good fun to see how the evolved version will settle here.
Tomorrow is the first day of Ehkä's XS Vol.6 -festival, and we can't wait! We will be performing the full versions of William William and Laura Laura on Thursday, so if you are around come and check them out! Other exciting things are happening too from tomorrow till Saturday, so make sure you'll catch some of it if you are not too far!
