Hello! I just wanted to thank you for all your FMA work. I just finished it a few weeks ago and I was delighted to find your artvid (for one of my favourite characters, too!) and all the interesting tidbits in your fma tag on tumblr. I...went through to the very end of the tag, and I appreciate you including all your artwork too - it gives me hope that someday I can draw my favourite characters well if I keep working at it. Rachel's GPA going up in the war is such. A beautiful headcanon. I love it. I definitely don't think she's much like Hermione, I just think of her as a top-tier student like Hermione. Honestly, they'd probably *hate* each other if they ever met XD

I feel like I should tell you that as far as I know, pop is also the word used in Canada. It's one of those things I say all the time that confuses my American friends (along with KD). We might have infected you?

Oh my god, you're so cute? I mean, you look like someone you would draw? I'm just stunned by how much you seem like you walked out of your own art. Which is a really good thing! I hope I didn't freak you out or anything. As an American/Canadian I'm also trying very hard to not look at the results but mostly failing XD

I feel like that’s pretty common with artists– we spend so much darn time looking at our own faces in the mirror and stuff that we unconsciously give characters features that kind of look like ours. There was a whole meme about it called “Art versus Artist” that was going around this year where you put a photo of your face in the center, and then a grid of faces from your artwork all around it. It looked like fun, but I… forgot to participate, lol.

I dunno if you've ever read the Animorphs but someone wrote an AU where Marco grew up into Tony Stark and now I can't stop thinking about it. Do you have feelings on that?

I’m afraid I haven’t! I’ve heard about the series - more specifically, my then-girlfriend told me snippets and details about it from time to time and traumatized me for life how are these children’s books wow - and it sounds super interesting! :D If a tiny bit horrifying at some points ^^’ 

I’ve never really had the chance to read them as kid, I don’t think they were really popular in Germany? At least I can’t remember seeing them anywhere, our library or elsewhere. Still, it sounds like a crossover that would be super fun - I adore less obvious/niche crossovers like this! Almost makes me wish that I’d read the books as a kid, just so I could take a look, but alas…

Hey, just read your rant on teens running revolutions and while I agree with it, I honestly can't remember a time when I read a book like that. Possibly I've erased them from my mind? The only teen revolution I can think of is Animorphs, which I always thought was pretty good in that regard. But yeah, I'm just wondering what books are doing this, aside from Unplugged? What am I looking for?

Divergent was another series I saw like this, where it started out great but then quickly put all the weight of this massive war on the shoulders of a teen. Or at least made the teen one of the most influential members of the war, calling a lot of (if not all) the shots. 

There are dozens of other ones I can’t call to memory but I’ve read them in the past. Blocked them out for the sake of my faith in humanity. It’s a huge favorite of YA novels to put real, world-changing, thousands-of-lives-affected responsibilities on the shoulders of a teen. I get that they’re appealing to a younger audience, but it bothers me when they sacrifice character development and common sense for the sake of it.

I love how in your Obi-Wan's lie timetravel AU universe Anakin has a reasonable suspicion that Ahsoka could be Vader, the end of all Jedi, Padme's killer, EVIL and his response is "extra meditation, that should help." It's like, wow Anakin, you get attached really quickly huh? Luke clearly takes after him - you know if Obi-Wan fell or Snips or something Anakin would be *certain* they could come back to the light and also would still love them despite everything

To be fair to Anakin in this AU, his initial plan for her wasn’t just “extra meditation”. But that’s only because he didn’t actually think far enough ahead to have a plan. He panicked and claimed her as his own to keep her away from Obi-Wan and to keep that potential future from coming true, then panicked when he realized he had no idea what to do with a padawan??? Let alone a padawan who could spell Doom for everyone he loved. And it wasn’t like he could consult anyone on the matter, as Luke had sworn him to secrecy. 

So Anakin alternated between determinedly Not Thinking about the entire thing and trying to impress certain morals on Ahsoka in order to prevent her from becoming Vader. As you can imagine, this often didn’t go particularly well…(Anakin: “Killing is bad, Snips. As Jedi, we don’t do that.” Ahsoka: *blinks in confusion* “I thought we were fighting in a war? And weren’t you just bragging about the number of B1′s you downed?” Anakin: “OK, but that’s different. You can kill droids and Separatists! Just… nobody else. Morals!!1!!!”)

The extra meditation was a combination of happy coincidence (he could keep an eye on both Obi-Wan and Ahsoka at the same time this way!!) and intentionality (he might have obliquely mentioned to Obi-Wan that he was concerned about his apprentice and Obi-Wan might have suggested additional meditation – Anakin refused to give any specific details about his concerns, after all, and this kind of limited the suggestions that Obi-Wan could make).

Oh yeah, Anakin definitely wouldn’t have given up on Obi-Wan or Ahsoka had they Fallen. Though, depending on the circumstances, he might have followed them into the Dark instead. (That said, if Palpatine had manipulated things properly and made it seem as though Obi-Wan or Ahsoka had somehow personally betrayed Anakin in addition to going Dark… well, that might have changed things.)
