bella stares down at the sketch between them. it's not very good and she knows it, her artistic talent will never get her anywhere unless she's behind a camera. but she's hoping an actual artist will be able to do something with it. " is it completely awful ? " she questions softly, " i mean it is but do you think you can work with it? "

the sketch in question is a small forest scene in a diamond shape. or at least what wants to be a diamond shape ... it's something to keep home close even as she drifts further away. it'll be her first tattoo and she'd be lying if she said she wasn't nervous.

astrid is not very tall .  she has never been so ,  especially not compared to the boys she spends all of her time with .  so today ,  astrid has dedicated herself to climbing the biggest tree nearby ,  all by herself .  she isn’t too far up before she slips ,  tumbles out of the tree and lands ,  hard ,  on the ground .  “ ah . . . ”  a frustrated noise escapes her as she sits up ,  glaring up at the tree .  but . . . apparently she’s by someone’s feet ,  having just missed @lav0rre​ as she falls  --  dark eyes squint ,  shifting to look up at the person above her .

he certainly wasn't as spry as he used to be,   bones sore and aching from being tackled.   his jaw ached.  human bodies were such weak things.   “just a bit of bruising.”    mal’s pride smarted for not hearing the cutthroats coming.   “hunting for ingredients usually isn’t this   ...   exciting.”   it would have been a disappointing haul anyway;   fine as the state of his dress,   he carried nothing of value save for a ring.   the mage dusted himself off and leaned on his staff with a sigh.   

“you   ..   didn’t have to stay behind.    thank you.”    it would have been a pitiful way for a dragon to die or get maimed.

There was something about the way the words were said that eased some of the tension on Lucan's shoulders. In a way, you could say it took him off guard.

A puzzled expression slowly paints the high elf's features. As if something was downing on him at that moment. The frown that was present on his forehead, however, soon softens upon meeting Jester's gaze. Gratitude quietly swirls about his own eyes.

Lucan didn't know Jester very well. But he didn't need to in order to see that she had a way to get to people. A charm that she was most likely oblivious to.

A sigh leaves the fighter. "Thank you, Jester." Finally, a smile breaks through his thoughtful expression. It's soft and somewhat half-hearted. But it is in no way insincere. "I think maybe I needed to hear that." Lucan then admits warmly, before nudging her gently with his shoulder.

"I've got your back too," he says, his smile widening into a grin "Although I think you already have plenty of people guarding your back, blue one."

      A laugh escapes Astrid’s lips as they come to a stop in one of the alleyways, hidden from view, but still close enough to see the CHAOS that ensues due to their little prank. It’s still something she has to get used to, being able to freely laugh again, and not having to restrain herself, but she has to admit that it feels good.

    “Oh I haven’t played a prank like that in...well, a VERY LONG time,” She chuckles, her hand still in Jester’s arm, just in case she needs to teleport them away. “I used to be very good at those, back in school.”

jester   and   nott   are   rooming   together   at   this   inn.         it   is   nott   he   looks   to   find;      nott   he   expects   to   be   in   the   bedroom   when   he   walks   past   and   notices   the   door   is   ajar.      with   his   nose   in   his   spellbook,   caleb   does   not   notice   @lav0rre​​   twirling   and   humming   to   herself   around   the   room   until   he   has   already   opened   the   door   the   rest   of   the   way.

when   their   eyes   meet,   his   cheeks   go   beet-red.      his   gaze   drops   to   the   floor      —      and   his   spellbook   tumbles   out   of   his   hands   as   well.      he   mumbles   in   zemnian   under   his   breath,   too   embarrassed   to   pick   through   the   muddled   common   in   his   frazzled   brain   right   away,   as   he   stoops   to   collect   his   things.            “      sorry,   sorry,      ”            he   finally   manages,   trying   to   get   out   of   here   as   soon   as   possible.

Ahsoka shakes her head. “It’s stupid,” she mumbles. “I just miss home sometimes. I miss my family. I used to have so many people and now I have no one.”

the   sending   crashes   into   caleb’s   mind   like   a   stone   through   glass.         for   once,   jester   does   not   use   all   of   her   words;      for   once,   there   is   no   melody   of   humor   or   silliness   in   her   tone.      @lav0rre​​   is   raw   in   what   she   says,   without   pretense   or   mask.

caleb   is   home   alone,   having   just   dismissed   his   village   class   for   the   day.      he   only   waits   a   beat   before   replying,   heart   in   his   throat.            “         jester   .   .   .      do   you   want   to   come   get   you?      ”
