I'M BACK IN THE FUCKING BUILDING AGAIN?????

Hi I need to talk about a UTDP interaction because my brain won’t stop putting it at the forefront of my mind.

So, like, Kazuichi and Taka really are mirrors of each other, huh- HEAR ME OUT!

So Kazuichi and Taka have this interaction where Taka stops Kazuichi (presumably in the halls) and gets on Kazuichi’s case for how he dresses.

From how they talk to each other, this seems like a regular interaction for them, which is pretty funny in all honesty. It feels so very Taka to harp on these kinds of things constantly.

And the interaction is pretty funny and lighthearted like this... until we get to this point:

The tone turns fairly serious here, and the choice of dialogue should ring a bell for those familiar with Kazuichi’s FTEs.

For those unfamiliar, Kazuichi has some deeply ingrained trust issues that correlate to how he dresses.

After being betrayed by a close friend, Kazuichi changed himself to keep people away from him. He doesn’t want to be betrayed again, and that’s very important to his character. We even see this in how quickly he turns on Hajime in chapter 4. He’s scared of trusting people.

It can be very easy to assume that he was a lot like Taka growing up: smart, responsible, gullible, etc.

The biggest difference between the two is that Kazuichi had a friend. And depending on how you view Kazuichi’s family life based on his FTEs, it can also be thought that Taka had a more healthy dynamic with his father.

So with this all being considered, can it be considered that Kazuichi sees his old self in Taka? I certainly think so.

All of this is to say that this is an incredibly interesting dynamic that I need more of.

Sidenote: the ending of this interaction is even funnier when you headcanon them both as gay:

favorite thing about them: She's so fun! I love her passion, and how excited she sounds when she talks about the things she likes. On a different end, I adore pretty much everything about her in the last chapter. How manipulative she is, how clear it is that she's dedicated her life to Danganronpa, and especially how she talks to the others.

least favorite thing about them: Her love suite.

favorite line: I literally have "It's from that one thing!" stuck in my head at all times but "No matter how much you grow, Shuichi, you're still weak after all..." HITS

brOTP: Hifumi and Twogami

OTP: At first I was like "I don't think I have one for her" BUT I remembered Maki and so I must say shirokawa

nOTP: Junko

random headcanon: She has a cotton allergy and that's why she got "cospox" from Kaede's clothes in chapter one even though Kaede is technically a fictional character.

unpopular opinion: I like her as a mastermind more than Junko. This is not to say that Junko is bad, I just liked how V3 handled Tsumugi more.

Thoughts on Makoto Naegi?

favorite thing about them: I like how much he encapsulates the themes of the game in it's purest form. He's just so optimistic and sweet, and it's kind of infectious.

least favorite thing about them: This doesn't really have much to do with anything wrong with him as a character, but he's not the most relatable character to me personally, which makes it kind of hard to connect with him as much as the others.

favorite line: He has so many good ones but his monologue in the epologue of thh is so good: "A lie... Peaceful as we remember... Well, no matter what it looks like, it's still our world. It's where we're meant to live. And...how do I put this? Unlike this school, the world is really big, right? Since it's so big, I'm sure there must be some despair no matter what. But there also has to be lots of hope...right?"

brOTP: It's so hard to pick just one! He has such good chemistry with everyone! I think he and Hina are the besties of all time tho

OTP: It's kind of hard to just pick one, but I have to admit that my favs are kinda basic: Naegiri, Naezono, and Naekusaba. I also really like Naeleon, Naeishi, and Naehiro/Naesaki

nOTP: Hina, Celeste, and Toko purely because I don't ship those three with guys

random headcanon: He's soooo adhd

unpopular opinion: I do not like how the fandom characterizes him. I think reducing him to "uwu soft, nervous boy" kind of disrespects how complex his character actually is? Like, he does have a backbone and isn't perfect by any means, y'know?

song i associate with them: you know those really uplifting pop songs in the early 2010s? Most of those, but I guess I'll say Kids of the Future by the Jonas Brothers and Everybody Hurts by Avril Lavigne to be specific

favorite thing about them: She's so honest and true to herself, and it's really inspiring. Also she's really fun to draw. Her color palette is so nice

least favorite thing about them: While she has good intentions, it can be a bit much to watch her constantly go after Himiko when Himiko seems uninterested at best and annoyed at worst.

favorite line: Literally her entire monologue before the ritual that kills her. It's so validating to see her talk about emotions like that. Also I really really like when she fully breaks down Himiko's character earlier in the chapter and tells her "You have the richest heart of all."

brOTP: She should've interacted with Kaito more because their dynamic is so good. Also love the idea of her becoming friends with characters like Gonta, Taka, and Makoto.

OTP: Tenkaede, but Tenmiko is a very close second

nOTP: I do not ship her with guys. I also don't really ship her with Angie

random headcanon: She's soooo adhd. Also, she and Leon have the rivalry of all time and it's incredibly funny to watch for everyone else.

unpopular opinion: Idk how much of an unpopular opinion this is, but I don't like the idea that she can't get along with any man. She's been shown to be fully capable of getting along with Shuichi, so why shouldn't she be friends with other men? I think it just takes a bit to get her to relax.

favorite thing about them: Maki is literally so cool, and she never fails to make me feel things. She's badass without feeling forced, and I loved seeing her open up more throughout the game! Definitely one of my favs of V3.

least favorite thing about them: It's hard for me to really think of anything specific, but I guess her actions in chapter 5 can be a tad bit infuriating considering she went out of her way to break Kaito out after riling everyone up. I would get it if it was before but after they all agreed to free Kaito together with a game plan and everything?? It feels a little unnecessary at that point.

favorite line: I'm actually tearing up just thinking of this quote from chapter 6; it means a lot to me: "Even if everything is fictional… I'll believe in my feelings. If I can't believe in my feelings, then my existence will have no meaning. If we can change reality, then we won't be just fiction… Our lives will have significance. And hopefully… my feelings will have significance, too."

brOTP: Mukuro and Peko! I also think that she could be friends with Leon; they feel like they'd have a funny dynamic

OTP: Kaemaki, Harukaito, Saimaki, Irumaki, Amakawa, and Shirokawa

nOTP: I can't think of anything tbh

random headcanon: She doesn't celebrate most holidays- not because she doesn't want to, but because she doesn't think she deserves the happiness that comes with celebration (especially her birthday). Also, she often slips into caregiver mode when it comes to her classmates- such as taking away things that are being fought over and pulling the "if you can't share, then neither of you get it" card.

unpopular opinion: I'm not all that familiar with popular or unpopular opinions when it comes to her, so idk.

favorite picture of them: She's so cool. I love the added touch of making her eyes glow to make her even more intimidating.

favorite thing about them: He's so catty and petty; I also really like his character development throughout the first game! He's a real interesting brain to pick at for sure!

least favorite thing about them: His treatment of Chihiro's corpse. I don't think I need to say anything more about that.

favorite line: In chapter three, when he is shown the picture of Hifumi and the Robo Justice costume, he responds, fully voiced, "Wh-What the hell am I looking at?" and I think about it often. Runner up is "I'm not... eff-ing with you right now."

brOTP: Celeste hands down! Catty gays all the way!! Also really enjoy the idea of Hifumi being that weird artist friend that all the rich students have inexplicably found themselves stuck to.

OTP: LEOGAMI LEOGAMI LEOGAMI-

nOTP: tbh I don't really ship him with women

random headcanon: I have sooooo many, but I guess I'll pick this one: transmasc Byakuya except because of how distant his father would be before he won the right to be the heir against his siblings, his father just does not know. He thinks that his son is cis and can totally continue the family legacy the way that has been traditional.

unpopular opinion: I can't think of anything too unpopular tbh
