Dorms
Layout
The dormitory situation in Laveaudeen changes every three years a student is at the academy. To start four students during years 1-3 are assigned as roommates these four will typically stay together through the room changes. Through years one through three students share a single large bedroom with two bunks so each student has a bed. There is a shared bathroom and a small living area in these dorms as well.
During years 4-6 these same four students will enter a dorm that has two bedrooms to be shared between them. Much like the first dorm style they have a bathroom, living area, but they also have the addition of a kitchenette.
For students 7-9 they will be placed in a more apartment style set up each student with their own bedroom. A living room, kitchen, and bathroom are all included in upperclassmen dorms.
Dorm Life
Curfew runs from 10pm to 5am. During school days students are restricted to their dormitories during these hours unless given written permission by their head of house to do otherwise. With the exception of getting food from the dining hall which is permitted at all hours. However outside of this time frame not only are students permitted to leave the dormitories but they can travel to other house dorms freely. Still once curfew is reached members of different houses must return to their own dorms.
Weekends are far more flexible as it is permitted for different house members to stay in dorms of their friends dorms. However there is still a ban on members of the opposite sex staying in the same dorm rooms regardless of house.
Despite this students found a means around this restriction by camping out in the common rooms of houses. Upon curfew each open furnished area is converted into a town of blanket forts and pillow piles. This often leads to each house hosting tiny events over weekends ranging from movies, games, or crafts all hosted by students. While not entirely up to regulation with the living quarters of the head of house being directly accessible from the common rooms it is often overlooked as long as the students are careful to pack everything away come the start of morning classes.
