PUNK IS WHATEVER MAKES YOU HAPPY THAT IRRITATES PEOPLE WHO ARE USED TO HAVING TOTAL CONTROL. đđťđđťđđť
millennial culture is being unable to eat dinner unless you are watching something at the same time. movie? tv show? twitch stream? doesnât matter. just have to be able to click play
i mean if im by myself what else am i gonna do?? be alone with my thoughts?? out of the question
The local oldies station just played "All Star" by Smashmouth. Which was made in 1999 and popularized again in "Shrek" in 2001.
"All Star" is an oldie.
Am I wet? Am I on my period? Did I pee my pants?- next on wtf is going on down there.
Iâm so glad this is a universal wondering among vagina-owners, haha.
âVagina-ownersâ
Tune in next time for: Are these menstrual cramps? Am I pregnant? Is it just gas? I wouldnât have to ask these questions if I didnât have a damn uterus
Next week: Is it a bladder infection? An ovarian cyst? Do I have endometriosis? Oh God please do not let it be cervical cancer! A 20/20 special
Y'all are forgetting the all-time classic: Is it just my period or is my appendix about to burst? Some nice tea and a heatpack or 911 and emergency surgery?
There is actually a test for that last one!
Place your hand over the pain, press down slightly and release. If the pain doesnât change by any great margin, youâre fine. If it suddenly becomes some painful you can barely stand, Get thee to an Emergency Room
reblog for the safety of vaginas and their owners
The appendix test works with or without a vagina so reblogging for everyone.
Reblogging because I didnât know this and it needs to be shared.
I love John Mulaney and trans people SO MUCH đđđ
đMorning Witchcraftâď¸: how to connect to the elements

đ đŻď¸Busy Witch RoutineđŻď¸đ
Hello Witches,
Now, I know as much as weâd prefer to spend our days riding broomsticks and brewing our potions in the big olâ cauldron.
We still have responsibilities * shudders*, some of us are mothers, students, workers, or just people with a hectic schedule.
These are ways to get some witchy practice without completely throwing off our daily routines.
                 đ Waking Up đ
Do some Yoga poses for 2 minutes.
Brush your teeth counter-clockwise to banish negativity from your day.
Stir your Coffee/Tea in a clockwise motion to invoke positivity to you and your day.
On your way to work, whisper a silent greeting to the sun. Enjoy its warm rays on your commute.
If youâre willing, try to pack or purchase a healthy snack like fruit and veggie bowls.
                 đ¤ď¸Afternoonđ¤ď¸
Ditch the soda! Try rejuvenating yourself with water instead, maybe add some lemon, cucumbers, or even fruits to your water to detoxify your body.
Meditate for 2 minutes, but donât forget to eat and energize your body again.
Carry crystals with healing and or corresponding energies pertaining to your work, school or plans for that day.
                  đEveningđ
When cooking/ cleaning, take a moment to play some of your favorite music to invoke spiritual energy.
Take a few minutes to google something youâ like to know! Crystals? Candle colors? Moon phases? Research and learn something new!
Mediate! Even if itâs for another 2 minutes. Anything counts! Clear your mind and relax.
Whisper a âGoodnightâ to the moon, enjoy its glow for a few seconds.
Hope this helps you in your journey! We actually do things on this list and itâs been easy to manage!Â

Fighting Consumerism in Magic
aka, little things to distance your craft from capitalism
Letâs all just admit that buying stuff is fun. That said, thereâs a big issue of consumerism within the witchy/pagan scene. As magic work and the pagan âaestheticâ becomes more of a commodity in the mainstream, thereâs a mounting attitude of needing All The Items in the highest quality (even if weâre not certain weâll use them,) and big corporations mass-producing cheap stuff to make a buck off of a growing trend. Hereâs some things you can do to help detach your practice from that and support other people in the craft:
Go outside. Check your backyard or local park for local plant life, waters, roots, etc. If your work involves things from nature at all, you can probably find a lot of your supplies⌠in nature. It takes a little more time, but itâs free and then youâve gathered stuff yourself!Â
Make stuff. This one is pretty straightforward. There may be key items to your practice that you can make yourself instead of buying it! That said, I know sometimes spending money is inevitable so I wonât dwell too much on this⌠letâs talk more about shopping:
Shop mindfully. The price of a lot of items will skyrocket once it has a pentacle or other symbol engraved on it. For example, little mortars and pestles can be very pricey in witchy shops, but you could probably get a bigger one thatâs actually food safe for less at a nice grocery store. Antique stores and international markets are now your new best friends.
Support small businesses! Things are cheaper on Amazon, but the extra money goes to support real people, likely other practitioners. If you can, supporting small, local, independent shopkeepers and crafters does a ton of good. It also helps build and sustain a local community.Â
Shop based on need. Donât get something âjust in caseâ (unless itâs banishing or hex breaking stuff; those are decent to have on hand.) Itâs tempting to impulse-buy a ton of niche items and ingredients, but unless you have a reasonable idea what youâre going to use them for in the near future, itâll probably just create clutter for you to deal with later.
Prioritize effectiveness over aesthetic. Ultimately your practice has to work for you, not just look good. I think making your work aesthetically pleasing to yourself can be an important part of really connecting with what youâre doing, but donât make that desire burn a hole in your wallet and distract you from what brought you to this path in the first place. Altar envy is a real thing.Â
Recycle/Upcycle. Use old clothing fabric for an altar cloth. That old trinket dish makes a great offering dish. Enchant jewelry you already own. That jar of strawberry jelly you just finished off will work just fine for that spell. Things can be re-purposed and made into new things.
Analyze your offerings. Special occasion wine isnât a special occasion if you do it every time. Not every offering needs to be a grand gesture, regular maintenance is more important generally.
Organize trades. Have any pals that also practice? See if you can help each other! You could trade different goods (that old mini cauldron you bought and never used for that abandoned tarot deck, maybe?) but also services. A protection spell for a luck charm. A reading for a reading. You help them with the laundry and they cook you a meal one day.Â
As always, the goal is to foster a local community of individuals doing honest work, and shedding the consumerist mindset society taught us to make us spend more money. Take up the idea that you can do magic completely on your own with what you already around you, and if you do want to spend money, see if you can do it in a way that helps the world a tiny bit. :)Â
broke witch hacks đ
đ use old socks to make spell satchets! these are also great because theyve spent a lot of time with you, so the spell will have an enhanced effect :))
đ buy your herbs in bulk!!!!!!!!! never pay more than a dollar for a lil bag of herbs! buy huge bags of them, you wont regret this! i recently bought a huge container of cinnamon sticks, i absolutely love it.
đ if you simply cannot get a physical copy of a book, download a pdf of old grimoires and spellbooks! theres so much knowledge out there, you just have to go find it!
đ cant afford fancy herbs? thats okay! table salt can be used in almost every recipe, (savory) and has cleansing properties. it can also protect against misfortune. pepper is also good for banishing negativity, and if you can get your hands on some cinnamon or sage those are wonderful for drawing love and happiness, and sage is perfect for cleansing.
đ if you cant afford a big fancy leather vintage whatever book for your bos, its okay! a composition book is fine. better yet, you can use the notes app on your phone! this is great for if youre on the go.
đ not being able to afford fancy shiny gems and crystals is okay!!!!!! stones you find yourself have a much more sentimental value and can be used just as youd use any other rock.
đ you dont have to dress witchy!!!!!!!!! witches can wear whatever, they dont have to wear all black and crystal necklaces! although thats the aesthetic i hope to achieve
đ meditate. even if its the only magick you can do! try energy work!!!!
đ collect rocks and sticks and stones and plants you find! go outside hunting for cool rocks! talk to the bugs! hug the trees!
đ hotels sometimes have tea in the lobby, steal a crap ton of teabags because fuck capitalism
the most magickal tool is yourself. you are divine đ
đŽ little witchy things to do đŽ
thereâs not always time to do hour-long full-out rituals and spells, but that doesnât mean you canât do little witchy things in your day-to-day life!
- sleep with your curtains open to naturally wake yourself up with the dawn, and appreciate the new day
- do yoga (i like sun salutation yoga in the mornings)
- use a body wash that matches your intent for the day (eg. lavender if you shower at night, rose if you want to boost your love life etc.)
- sprinkle a watered down lavender spray on your blankets/pillows at night for relaxation and rest
- meditate
- you can find some very simple quick spells to doÂ
- immerse yourself in nature
- moonbathe
- sunbathe
- listen to witchy music
- tidy (physically) and cleanse (energy) your room/house
- light candles
- make a few sigils (put school sigils on your schoolbooks, self-confidence sigils on your hairbrush ⌠)
- have some you time
- add to your book of shadows/grimoire
- even just flick through/read your book of shadows/grimoire
- if youâre on the bus, or waiting for someone or have a free moment, take a minute to ground yourself. concentrate on feeling the connection between you and your seat, your feet and the floor.
just remember that simply doing these does not make you any less of a witch.
youâre an important, busy person!

Bedroom Witch Tips
đżHerb sachets hung above your bed (request herb sachet recipes from me if youâre interested).
đżHang Dry herbs upside down in your bedroom (Lavender helps for anxiety and depression⌠it is very calming or Mugwort for dreams. Mugwort is very invasive, you can find it growing everywhere).
đżHerbs placed inside your pillow sheet (I place Mugwort leaves inside to active lucid dreams).
đżSetup an Altar near your bed: add elements of earth, fire, water and air. You can also use your windowsill as an altar.
đżPlace Black Tourmaline under your bed: shields you energetically by taking the electromagnetic frequencies, and instead of absorbing them, tourmaline changes, redirects, cleanses, and purifies the energy. This is how it handles negativity, even energies of psychic attack too!
đżPlace Sigil writings or powders for protection and restful beauty sleep under your mattress.
đżKeep a dream journal under your pillow! Dreams can help us get a glimpse into our subconscious and the more dreams you write the easier it becomes for you to remember them.
đżUnless you are allergic, sleep with the window halfway open or cracked to let good energy move around and circulate in your room and keep skin hydrated during the night.
đżDrink herbal tea before bed each night. (Request free herbal tea recipes from me if interested) Mugwort tea is great to have in the evening before bed to reach high levels of lucid dreaming
đżSmoking Herbs before bed is great as well. I recommend this book for further reading: Smoke Plants Of North America by M.R. Ross. (Request free Smoke Blend recipes from me if interested). With reverence, Rosemary Milk đš

Low-effort witchy things to do
-bless your morning tea/coffee every day. Set an intention like, âI am confident and happy, and I love myselfâ whilst stirring it, then tap the spoon on the mug 3 times to seal it.
-look at your crystals and pick one that matches your needs. Tell the crystal what youâd like to attain from it. Carry it around!
-bless your water before you drink it. Just say âblessed beâ and imagine a purifying light shining through it.
-when my friends are sad, I like to send a blessing in my head towards them. âmay X have protection and feel loved todayâ. Obviously you should also try and talk to them if you can, but this is a nice option too.
-make crystal elixirs by sticking a crystal into a jar of water overnight (or for a couple of hours). You can intensify your intention by putting a sigil onto the jar as well. Remember to research the crystals to make sure theyâre safe in water first!
-do you spend a lot of time on your phone? Try to put it down for 5 minutes before bed time and just BE. Itâs technically meditating but call it whatever you want! Put some selenite in your hand to help purify your energy even more.
-speaking of meditating, when youâre travelling somewhere, try to look around you and find bits of natural life to look at. Quiet your mind and try to focus on those things.
-when you shower, visualise the water washing off all of the bad energies, and sending them down the drain!
-drink herbal tea that corresponds to your intentions.
-open your window at least once a day to cleanse the room and make it feel lighter!
-practise self-care in any form if you are able. Self care truly is witchcraft.
Remember, nobody except you can define your craft. Donât let anyone tell you that youâre doing it wrong!

Beginner Witch Tips
Read. Before you even think about practicing magick, you need to study. It sounds tedious, I know, but witchcraft is not a trivial undertaking.Â
Start a grimoire/Book of Shadows/Journal. Youâll need a safe place to keep all of the information youâve gathered safe, and a grimoire (as I call mine), is essentially a notebook for that exact purpose. It doesnât have to be fancy (though youâre welcome to make it as ostentatious as you like), â it can be a bullet journal if thatâs easy for you. Within your grimoire, you should keep all gathered information, spells, failures, successes, records of work youâve done, etc,. Anything that pertains to your craft.
Donât put pressure on yourself to pick a path. You might see a lot of witches who class themselves as one thing or another, e.g., storm witches, kitchen witches, elemental witches, spirit/divination witches; green witches; cosmic witches, and so on.That is cool and their prerogative, but you will also see witches known as eclectic. Eclectic Witches, are simply witches who choose to practise many different types of magick and forge their own path, instead of following only one, or following a pre-established path. Basically, there is no need at all, whatsoever, to label yourself. With many of us, our paths found us in time.Â
Research paths, secular witchcraft and religious witchcraft.Witchcraft alone, is a practice. However, some paths are indeed religious, such as Wicca. Make sure you know the difference before you begin actively practicing and before you decide on your path, if you do choose to do so.
Carry a little notebook on your person. You canât always carry your grimoire with you, so I personally like to carry a tiny little notebook with me, for those moments when inspiration takes me, or if something captures my imagination or attention. You can add it to your grimoire/BoS later.
Oh, and one more thing: donât ever stop learning and reading and recording. Witchcraft is a path of continuous learning.
Things to Research:
Crystals/gemstones/minerals
Herb and crystal correspondences, e.g., such as color and planetary.
Sabbats (also known as âWitches Sabbathsâ) and esbats.
The basic tools of witchcraft.
Altars (if youâre so inclined).
Lunar phases.
Divination, e.g., tarot, runes, pendulums.Â
Witchcraft and deities (if youâre so inclined).
Traditional witchcraft practises, such as circle casting.
SAFETY! What is safe to use/burn/touch/ingest. There are lots of poisonous and potentially fatal plants and ingredients out there.
Easy/budget magick/witchcraft.
The history of witchcraft, including lore, myths and tales.
The importance and use of the elements in magick
Research cultural witchcraft. Make sure that your practice does not steal from closed cultures.Â
Easy Practices for New Witches:
Grounding â grounding is the act of centering your energy and focusing it within yourself. You can ground yourself by being out in nature and using visualising techniques that tie your energies firmly into the ground (very traditional method), or by finding a quiet place that you are content in and meditating.
Meditation.
Visualisation/visualising.
Sigil crafting/creation.
Dream interpretation.
Charging jewellery/crystals/objects/sigils.
Using glamours in makeup/cosmetics/everyday wear.
blackbearmagicâs Crystal Hunting Guide
Introduction
Scientific Fact: Witches love crystals almost as much as they love jars. Consumerism Fact: In many metaphysical shops, nice-looking crystals can be had for relatively cheap. Ethical Fact: Many of those crystals are as cheap as they are because they are mined with no consideration for the damage done to the environment or the welfare of the humans collecting them.
So whatâs a good, honest, ethically-minded witch to do, especially if he/she/they donât have the money to afford crystals that were mined sustainably and responsibly, or the time to research which sellers obtain their wares from ethical mines?
Find their own.
Iâve been crystal hunting all my life, but only within the last year have I started doing it seriously. Iâve walked away from a creeking expedition with slabs of smoky quartz the size of my palm or calcite hunks bigger than my fist, and I personally think creek-crystal energy is much more vibrant and easy to work with; by comparison, the crystal points Iâve bought from metaphysical shops feel⌠inert, lifeless.
So letâs get straight into it!
What Youâll Need
a good-sized creek or stream with lots of gravel spits along its length
offerings to the spirit of the creek, if appropriate to your personal practice
bug spray, sunscreen, snacks, water, and anything else youâd normally bring on a hike
your trusty adventurerâs Bag of Holding
your sweet self
Now letâs talk details.
When I say âgravel spitsâ, this is what Iâm referring to:
These tumbles of stone are going to be where youâll find your treasures, and the size of the stones themselves actually tells you what size of crystal you might find: When the conditions are right (ie, during a flood), the water flowing through that portion of the creek is capable of lifting and moving rocks of the size you see there now.Â
In my experience, the crystal specimens youâll find are typically half or one-third the size of the average rock on the spit. Theyâre usually larger than the smallest rocks, but much smaller than the largest rocks. Not always, thoughâI have found specimens larger. (See the introduction.)
Regarding offerings, if thatâs part of your path, youâll want to make sure itâs nothing that will harm the local wildlife or damage the ecosystem in any way. My personal go-to is water, ideally water from a bottle I havenât drunk from yet.
In the same vein as offerings, Iâve had great success in making a sort of bargain with the spirit of the place: That in return for treasures, I will pick up and remove any litter I find in the area. It is, of course, always a good idea to remove any litter you see when youâre out in nature, but it doesnât hurt to point out to the spirit of the place that itâs something youâre doing for it. Bring along a trash bag to help collect it.
Lastly, with regards to your bag, I would advise something with two shoulder straps. Rocks are heavy.
What Youâll Do
Once youâve hiked to your creek and found a gravel spit with lots of good-sized rocks, itâs time to start looking. Thereâs two main approaches Iâve found that work well, and I tend to use both.Â
The first is a broad sweep. This one works best if youâve got good lighting on the rocks. All you do is stand in one spot and sway side to side slightly while looking over the gravel, looking for anything that glints, shines, or otherwise catches the light shining on it. If you see something, investigate it. Repeat.
The second is the more detailed search. Get down on the groundâwhether that means kneeling, crouching, laying on your belly, I donât careâand go over each rock one by one. Use your eyes and use your hands. I imagine this method is probably going to be unpleasant for a lot of you, but honestly, itâs like crack to me.
Once youâve combed over the current gravel spit as thoroughly as you please, pack up and move on to the next. Continue for as long as you like, or until you feel itâs time to go. Just remember that as far out as you go is how far youâll have to walk back!
Advice and Warnings
Tell someone where youâre going and when you expect to be back. If you godsforbid go missing, theyâll be able to give the police an idea of where to start searching for your poor, lost ass.
Keep a charged cell phone with you at all times.Â
If you see something or someone iffy, do your best avoid it. Sometimes there are creepy people in the woods, and sometimes they do creepy things. Donât get involved.
Make sure youâre not trespassing on private property. All of the creeks I hike on are on public land. If youâre in a state park or other protected environmental area, donât go off the trailâyou could cause damage to a fragile ecosystem.
Following the creek is a good way to get out and back without losing your way. Donât stray too far from it if youâre in unfamiliar territory.
The best times of year to go huntingâassuming Northern Hemisphere, a temperate climate and deciduous forests around the creekâare the spring and summer. In the autumn, youâll have to clear fallen leaves off of the gravel before you can look, and winter is too cold.Â
The best time of day is the morning, when the sun angle is lower and is more likely to glint off of shiny rocks.
Youâll have your best luck the day after heavy rain. Rain will swell the stream and shift the stones around, and could uncover new treasures!Â
Inspect anything that looks even remotely worthwhile. Youâll find a lot of duds, sure, but that will help train your brain to tune out what you donât care about finding.
âWhat Can I Find?â
Exactly what sort of minerals and crystals youâll find is highly variable. All minerals are not equally distributed across the planet, because many of them require very different conditions to form and the crust composition varies slightly from place to place. However, there are some stones that are pretty common all over the Earth, so no matter where you go hunting, youâre likely to find them.
Of course, for more specific identifications, please consult the internet, a book on mineralogy, or your local rockhounding club.Â
Quartz
The chemical formula of quartz is SiO2, or silicon dioxide. Silicon and oxygen are, by mass, the two most abundant elements in Earthâs crust; around 90% of it is composed of silicate minerals like quartz. Ever find a pretty, sparkly, mostly-clear rock on the ground? It was probably quartz.Â
Quartz comes in a mind-boggling array of colors, from smoky quartz so dark itâs practically opaque to purple-and-orange ametrine to the brilliant clear of a Herkimer diamond (yup, not actually diamonds) but all of these varieties are still quartz. In my region of North America, clear and smoky quartz seem to be the most plentiful.Â
Calcite
Calcite is calcium carbonate, CaCO3. Like quartz, it is made of some of the Earthâs most abundant crustal elements (in this case, calcium and oxygen) and comes in a stunning array of colors. In my creeks, Iâve found calcite in yellow, orange, white, and even blue and red.
The biggest giveaway for rough calcite is its texture. If you pick up a rock and it feels like someone rubbed wax all over it, youâve probably got yourself a calcite specimen.
Feldspar
Feldspar is one of the most abundant minerals in the crust, alongside quartz. Itâs also a silicate, and it frequently finds its way into other minerals, such as granite.Â
What sets feldspar apart from the other two minerals Iâve mentioned here is its fracture habit: It naturally fractures along cleavage planes which intersect at 90-degree angles. It doesnât shatterâit shears. If you find a rock with a smooth face that looks like a polished stone countertop, itâs probably feldspar.
âBut Bear, I Want Crystal Points!â
Oh. Yeah.
You can find those too.Â
Every one of those pictures is of quartz points that I have found in my area. (In fact, theyâre actually all from the same crystal-hunting hike, and represent only about a third of the specimens I found that day!) As you can see, they arenât all perfectâand I have plenty of others that are, like, three facets and no pointâbut theyâre all beautiful, and some of them really sing, if you know what I mean.Â
Conclusion
Finding your own crystals can be pretty simple, when you get down to it. It can be a lot of fun to get down and dirty, and is a great way to get yourself out in nature for a while. And, of course, you can rest assured that your crystals were gathered in a sustainable, respectful, ethical mannerâassuming you took care of yourself and the environment while finding them!
Best of luck! âBear
