I don't want to spoil anything but Sapphire is having an extended identity crisis. She's changing her style a lot, not knowing what feels right and what doesn't. She feels a draw towards art and photography, but there's her dad's (assumed) expectation that she be a champion like him.

Of course, Steven has no such expectation. He just wants her to have fun and do well at whatever she wants to do well at. However, he doesn't realize until Lavender points it out that he hasn't heard from Sapphire in a couple of weeks. He assumed she was busy, but of course, tries to check on her. Unfortunately, she's dodging his and Lavender's calls. Lavender, who has been in a very chill mood since moving to Paldea, is suddenly in panic mode. She's in "death grip Steven's hand and spiral into worst case scenario" mode.

AH SAPPHIRE.... PLEASE TALK TO YOUR PARENTS..... 😭😭😭

can lavender send latias to find her?? like in secret since they can do the light refraction to turn invisible?? like not in a way that violates her privacy as a growing trainer and person trying to find her way but just enough to alleviate lavender's anxiety?? 😭😭😭

With the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, I needed a protagonist to play Scarlet. I figured, why not play as Lavender's kid? And then I thought... Well who's going to be their dad...? Well...

Her name is Sapphire. Her hair color matches her dad's. (Also that's the Shroodle she just caught. Unrelated.) Her parents moved her to Paldea so she could attend the prestigious Naranja Academy. Lavender's greatest hope was that the independent study would help Sapphire discover her passion, something she really struggled with. Sapphire, meanwhile, has the weight of both parents being famously powerful trainers. She's already starting to struggle with where she should focus her efforts.

So yeah Sapphire's story obviously takes place years in the future from Lavender's, but I'm excited to develop both.

Lavender worked at the Mauville Battle Food Court. She finally got into actually training her Pokémon for battling after losing her seat and eating the same meal combo on the floor during her lunch break nearly everyday for over a year. She finally decided to quit her job after she begged the manager to let employees have a break room to eat in, but he insisted they follow the same rules as customers.

oh booooooooooo, someone call Watson and get him to get that manager in line!! (he's not exactly the mayor but he's well known enough around mauville that he could probably have some say in the matter) that’s the “if you have time to sit you have time to __” attitude, and frankly I doubt the Battle Food Court would continue to have a good public image if it got out!! 😤😤😤😤

Lavender is officially a hero even without the Latias encounter tbh, by simple virtue of having worked in food service! frankly steven stone should be thanking her -- while I love steven stone, that son of a CEO could never 😤😤😤😤

I finally decided on Lavender's design! (The uncolored sketch is the hair I settled on)

Like I said her eyes used to be brown before the Latias encounter. Since quitting her job, she asked Steven if he could, like, pay her to do the stuff he wants her to do. Like deal with Team Aqua and Magma grunts. Because she'd really like to still make rent please. Steven agreed. To help her out (considering Audino isn't much of a battler) he gave her a Treeko, Torchick, and Mudkip... None of which listen to her very much at all.
