So I’ve had this loooooong lasting headcanon that Shizuo has this fixation on watching Izaya do mundane things and admiring Izaya when he’s concentrated on something, so. 🥺🥺🥺 Thank you for letting me indulge in this:

Shizuo agreeing to play Chess with Izaya even though he’s bad at it and Izaya criticizes his moves the entire time, because Izaya will sit there in silence with a little smile on his face while he waits for Shizuo to make his move and Shizuo will still little glances just to see it because he’s so stinking cute. Izaya is cute, and handsome, and he gets the smuggest little grin on his face when he wins and Shizuo pretends like he cares just so Izaya will keep making it. What a whipped ass loser omg.

Shizuo enjoying the opportunity to watch Izaya sleep, brushing his hair back and appreciating the sight of Izaya in a state of calm and silence. He’s so cute when he sleeps and Shizuo feels deeply honored to get to have this opportunity. Izaya’s a light sleeper though so sometimes Izaya will wake up and embarrass him for staring. But most of the time Shizuo will just own up to it. XD Like yeah and?? You’re MY boyfriend. But like, say they had a fight and went to bed angry and he did this? Decimated. Shizuo, you lose. Checkmate. Ur done.

Watching Izaya drink milk tea from a straw, or frowning at his phone, or even sneezing and Shizuo’s heart is like… wow. He really just sits there being Izaya and doing those things. He’s gotta keep himself together ofc because like damn even a guy like him has dignity and also Izaya is still Izaya but damn. He forgets himself sometimes. Izaya will catch him staring and is like “😠 WHAT” and he’s like “nothing.” Or if he wants to destroy Izaya’s heart he’ll be like “you look cute when you x” because Izaya will either make fun of him and he can double down, or Izaya will get all tsun and tell him he’s stupid. It’s a win win. Compliments are Izaya’s greatest weakness.

They rarely dress up, but when they do Shizuo is floored. Izaya looks good in practically anything, so he’s gotta keep his shit together. Part of the reason why he withholds compliments aside from the fact that Izaya is annoying and doesn’t deserve them is that they make his heart rate go up and that’s bound to be bad for him to just do constantly right? Plus it’s embarrassing for him that he’s so in love with Izaya’s appearance now after hating it on first contact. What the hell happened?

It’s weird but when Izaya looks his ‘worst’ is when Shizuo admires his appearance most of all. Like if his hair is disheveled, if he has a headache, if he’s genuinely upset and gone all quiet, Shizuo enjoys looking at him but it makes him feel bad because it’s low key like he enjoys Izaya’s suffering. But that’s not what it is! Because Izaya is an incredibly secretive and closed off person, he doesn’t often show off his honest side and it frustrates Shizuo (but he loves him or something), so when these ‘bad’ things happen that force Izaya to show how he really feels, Shizuo finds it completely charming. Eventually he just found his whole being charming. The annoyances and being a bastard are all still there but it’s all surrounded by this encompassing feeling of being absolutely enamored with him so Shizuo doesn’t mind anymore.

Morning glace how are you ? 🥰 I was thinking about how when they were teenagers, Simon used to catch Izaya and Shizuo when they were fighting and sit them down in Russia Sushi and make them have a meal together. Is this actually canon? But also more importantly, please gives us headcanons on how these lil dinner dates would go 💖

It is! It’s canon in the novels and manga. Them having classes together and being forced to sit in the same room all day is also canon!

Anyway, here’s some headcanons I have randomly thrown together:

Izaya and Shizuo always left with something on their clothes, be it food or dishwater or blood (probably Shizuo’s).

Many a civil conversation was attempted in that restaurant and all attempts were fraught being as how Shizuo is a Bitch. Even when Izaya was just trying to pass the time, Shizuo assumed it was just to antagonize him and honestly when your only response to someone speaking to you is to feel antagonized then of course that’s what happened and what Izaya was trying to do.

If there was no bickering there was only complete silence because Izaya would get tired, and Shizuo would be so grateful for those moments. Because of Shizuo openly enjoying these moments, Izaya made sure to have as few of them as possible.

Izaya complained many times about being predominantly blamed for all the damages at Russia Sushi when Shizuo was the one always doing the act, but Denis would shrug him off and tell him he’s responsible because Shizuo wouldn’t have done it if Izaya wasn’t actively trying to piss him off all the time.

A lot of Izaya’s bitterness towards Shizuo formed here, and it’s also the place where they became aware of each other’s actual personalities which is why they can define each other so well to other people. Izaya’s insults towards Shizuo became harsher and harsher.

If they were ever in agreement about being mutually annoyed with Simon or Denis for being bossy or something, they’d be miserable about it. They wouldn’t even fight, they just sulk because how dare I have something in common with him. Just imagine them meeting each other’s eyes while Shizuo does the dishes and Izaya slices cucumbers before swiftly turning away.

One time Izaya cut his finger really badly and Shizuo kinda half heartedly teases him over it for being stupid and Izaya goes to the bathroom to have a quiet moment of frustration to himself (totally not crying) but when he comes back there’s a bandage and some ointment where his station was. He just assumed it was Simon. Shizuo still thinks about it sometimes.

When they went home ofc Shizuo chased him. Shizuo knows where Izaya’s childhood home is because of this.

When Izaya thinks about Russia Sushi now, he thinks about those days and wonders if he could’ve done anything different to improve his relationship with Shizuo.

Glace !!!!! Thoughts on the potential news of new DRRR novels and possibly a SH anime? What do you expect we might see from new novels? What do you WANT to see?? ASSHDHDDHFSDF!!!

SO STINKING PUMPED MAN!!! :D I had honestly made peace with the series remaining unfinished honestly lol but I can’t deny I started to feel like the signs were there! I just didn’t wanna get my hopes up. :,D

I’m wondering if maybe the SH anime will be a short one since there are only 4 novels out? I would absolutely love to see the Izaya novels incorporated somehow but I have no idea how that would even work. As for what I want to see I guess my go to answer is always character growth?? I’ve always held the criticism that Narita doesn’t display character growth or even much development very well and I’d like to see that. Knowing him however he’ll probably just focus on another fun little story in the city, probably throw some new characters in there. I hope we get to see Masaomi again!

The idea of a Shizuo gaiden sounds incredibly interesting though. Maybe it’ll have short stories of Shizuo discovering some independence and moving away from relying on Tom for his every move? I think that would be very nice. Or if Shizuo helped solve a murder the way Izaya has in his novel? That would be super cute (in like a neat way)!

And let’s see… Izaya? Izaya in general. Izaya being bullied. Izaya out of his element. I’d probably be happy with anything that has Shizuo or Izaya in it. I’d wish for something with them together but I’m not so bold as to think that would ever happen lmao.

10- Genuinely Angry Shizuo- not to be mistaken for Angry Shizuo since they’re easy to confuse. Shizuo is often in bad moods but when Izaya has done a bad, he’s gotta deal with being reprimanded. Which is no fun. :c

9- Sad Shizuo- Cuter but Izaya’s still not a fan. He’s no fun to tease, and if Shizuo started crying or something he’d have to play it off like he’s not freaking out.

8- Stressed Shizuo- Bleeds his stress onto Izaya. Still can’t be teased, but is super duper cute. He can turn mean though there’s no danger of him falling apart like with sad Shizuo.

7- Sleepy Shizuo- ANNOYING. Never lets Izaya SPEAK, always clings to him, and the cuddling is nice but the being blamed for every minor inconvenience gets old. I didn’t make you walk in a puddle of water in just your socks, Shizu-chan use your eyes.

6- Angry Shizuo- Hard to reason with, like in the old days, but Izaya’s gotten better at being a healthy distraction and a voice of reason. Sometimes makes Shizuo laugh and instantly cheer up which just makes Izaya melt.

5- Grumpy Shizuo- not grumpy at Izaya, that’s the key here. Izaya is, in fact, the only one Shizuo is nice to when grumpy (with the exception of Tom and Celty lol), and Izaya feels special because he can also cheer him up. Izaya is smug about it too.

4- Calm & Thoughtful Shizuo- Nice to have conversations with. Asks lots of questions and perfectly pleasant.

3- Drunk Shizuo- a mixture between thoughtful and grumpy. Makes Izaya laugh so hard and also feel so comfortable.

2- Protective & Doting Shizuo- Oh Izaya is so smug. So fucking smug when Shizuo is protective of him. He feels so special. And when Shizuo does shit for him while they’re out, like holding his bags or standing in front of him when they encounter someone?? Izaya is ruined. He feels so safe, and literally no one can ever touch him again and get away with that shit.

1- Happy Shizuo- Especially if Izaya made him that way. He just has the most evil smile on his face, like you can’t tell this man shit anymore because he’s already achieved the most impossible task in the world. Treats it like he won an award or something. Which is why it sometimes doesn’t last long lmaoooo.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I did some holiday ones a little while ago, but I’m always down to do more lolol. I have fun writing headcanons:

Izaya tries making baked goods on New Year’s day. They turn out ugly as hell, but Shizuo eats them all and tells him they’re good with the blankest expression on his face so much to the point that if Izaya didn’t know him he wouldn’t believe him.

Shizuo makes a new year’s resolution every year to have less violence in his life and every year he fails. Now that he has Izaya in his life Izaya tells him he’s more than welcome to try but his doubts grow more and more every year with a smug little smile on his face. Shizuo knows he’s right but he’s still indignant.

Izaya’s resolution is to see lots of people and eat lots of good traditional food. Shizuo tells him he should try doing something about his personality for a change.

They go to the temple and ring the bell. They read their fortunes. Izaya never lets Shizuo see his yet steals Shizuo’s. No matter what his result, Shizuo can expect a snide comment.

The kiss at midnight always. <3 Depending on where they are determines how long they kiss.

Lavenderrrrrrrr!! I’ve already answered this ask once and tumblr swallowed it :,D Idk what’s up with that. Anyway! I always reference Rukazaya’s post about the popular Japanese fandom trend of assigning numbers to characters based on the letters in their name. The number 4213 is based on this system which before categorized is Shi-Zu-I-Za. The date 4/13 refers to Shi(zu)Iza which is where the date comes from. We also use 4/20 to refer to Shizuo Day which can also double as weed day Izuo day. I personally like to count both these days and 4/21 as a Shizaya day just cause xD Good soup.
