I'm wondering if you have headcanons on Shizuo and izaya love language? I just love your headcanons so much ! Thank you very much for those lovely headcanons. 🧎

Izaya: the love languages that he expresses most is acts of service followed by gift giving and physical touch- hold the phone though! Because they are not all healthy expressions of acts of service and gift giving.

He will set up doctor’s appointments for Shizuo and go with him to make sure it goes smoothly. He teases him and pretends to gripe about it but Shizuo knows that Izaya feels really useful for being able to deal with social situations Shizuo’s not good in.

He’ll get Shizuo’s laundry dry cleaned, and tidy up his spaces for him around their apartment. If they don’t live together, one of the first gestures he initiates to show he cares is offer a place for Shizuo to keep his stuff when he stays overnight.

Will buy an entire skincare routine for Shizuo to use and teaches him how to use it. At first, Shizuo assumes it’s a scheme to piss him off and condescend to him and Izaya even pretends like it was indeed that because he realizes Shizuo is insulted, but Shizuo realizes that it was a genuine gesture that Izaya meant as a way to show he cared.

Same thing with his hair. Don’t use bad shampoo or 3 in 1 bullshit Shizuo.

Izaya jumps at the opportunity to show Shizuo a new experience or do something he thinks would improve Shizuo’s quality of life because he still gets in the mindset that he has to prove how useful he is all the time. Shizuo can get kind of frustrated by it because while it does mean that Izaya has genuinely well meaning intentions for doing things for Shizuo, Izaya is still kind of viewing love and relationships as a transactional thing that he has to earn.

Because of the point above, Shizuo limits Izaya in the amount of gifts he’s allowed to give, and if Izaya does something for him he’s still suspicious at times, or just a little exasperated. Izaya is still learning.

Physical touch, however,,,, LMAO is one of Shizuo’s big love languages as well. Izaya is very good with little tender and romantic gestures like brushing his bangs out of his face, cupping his cheek, holding his hands and kissing his palms, etc. Izaya loves to have his hands somewhere on Shizuo. I’d say that my hc for which love language Izaya likes to receive from Shizuo the most is physical touch, and he loves to have Shizuo hold him. Tucks himself into Shizuo’s chest and relaxes.

He’s also a little more timid with his words of affirmation because it’s really hard for him to be honest, but he is really good at encouraging Shizuo and complimenting him. Because of how he is, he always knows what to say.

He likes for Shizuo to do things for him though like 1000%. If Shizuo brings him a coffee or puts his socks on for him he’ll get kind of tongue-tied for a second because Shizuo is just so unassuming.

He’s also a sucker for Shizuo getting gifts for him. Somehow Shizuo is freakishly so good at getting him presents. Izaya didn’t even know how sentimental he was until he got a hopeless romantic boyfriend.

Now for Shizuo: main love language is physical touch but also quality time. He likes to receive words of affirmation, but he can be a little reserved at giving them out.

Shizuo is no fool. He knows who he’s with and that Izaya needs protecting from no one, and most people probably need protecting from him, but he still protecc. He always has a hand on Izaya somehow, and thankfully even when he doesn’t Izaya usually has a hand on him. They literally can’t keep their hands off of each other. Something something they chased each other and were just out of arm’s reach for the longest time? And now they’re just a little eternally intertwined okay nbd.

A little nsfw-ish maybe, but Shizuo falling asleep on Izaya near the start of their relationship and Shizuo somehow always having his mouth on Izaya in some way. He always drools and Izaya futilely attempts to knock him off but fails. Izaya endears himself to it.

Shizuo doesn’t need a fancy date ever, or exotic trips overseas, or even a lengthy vacation. All he needs is to know several times per day that Izaya’s attention is 100% undivided and on him which- is no problem at all since they love each other your honor.

If he feels neglected he gets kinda sulky. Not jealous per se, at least not at first, but he at least doesn’t want Izaya’s time being all spent up from work if he’s home. PAY ATTENTION TO HIM IZAYA SMH.

As stated in my Izaya hc, Shizuo tries not to enable Izaya’s habit of attaching his self worth and value in his usefulness to others, but he does love for Izaya to do something for him with him such as make dinner. He likes doing chores together and snuggling together on the couch all domestic-like afterward.

Shizuo loves for Izaya to kiss his hands. Something particular about his hands just seems like such a conscientious thing on Izaya’s part, and they’ve never spoken about it yet somehow that seems to make it better. So I have a hc that Shizuo is very insecure over his hands. He hasn’t taken good care of his hands, he has rough looking hands, and Izaya has literally been hurt by those hands. It feels like a silent gesture of encouragement for Izaya to kiss his knuckles. Sometimes he even looks Shizuo in the eye knowingly as he does it. Shizuo barely keeps it together.

He’s better with words of affirmation than Izaya but he’s still not great. He struggles with saying how deeply he feels. He can say the words “I love you.” pretty quickly on the tongue so that’s one thing. Izaya has to practice really hardcore for a while.

Izaya always loves Shizuo’s gifts which are always incredible and also mundane. Honestly Shizuo thought Izaya was making fun of him the first time Shizuo got him anything, but Izaya actually seemed like he was tearing up himself. He’s good at nostalgic presents which is great because Izaya can buy himself literally anything he wants for himself any time.

Shizuo is a hopeless romantic and will have them spend a whole day together if he has to. One that Shizuo plans himself and ends somewhere really nice. This falls under acts of service and quality time I feel.

Shizuo has in fact memorized Izaya’s hair and skincare routine and grows to follow trends that Izaya which Shizuo also likes.

Do you have any embarrassed Izaya headcanons?

Oh of course. Hope people are expecting Shizaya in this because there is. <3

When Izaya is embarrassed, he goes through several stages. The first stage is denial, where he’s all smiley and pretending like he either knows what he’s doing or doesn’t know what you’re talking about. The second stage is dismissal- he wants to pretend like it’s not a big deal but really the one who thinks it’s the biggest deal is him. Third stage is anger, where he gets irritated and blushy and bitchy. Then the final stage is acceptance where he kinda returns to that denial type personality but now he’s got this pained look in his eyes and he’s laughing at himself in this fake way.

Pronounces something incorrectly in one of his other fluent languages in front of a native speaker and playing it off like he was just testing to ensure they were listening.

Gets scolded by someone he perceives as authority over him and him shutting down, smiling slightly, and looking down at his hands.

Shinra brings up something from the past, or picks him apart in front of other people.

Mairu and Kururi are not allowed to be in a conversation with him and another person because they’ll start picking apart his character façade and he’s like oh look at the time I’ve got to go. Then later curse them within an inch of their lives.

Shizuo catches him in a lie of omission, which is not on something bad (criminal) but rather related to Izaya’s feelings such as “you were hurt by…” “you were trying yo say…” or even just “you’re hiding something” and Izaya is at the point where when Shizuo catches onto something he can’t help but scowl which is just as good as admitting it.

Clingy lovey Shizuo is holding him and kissing on his neck and Izaya can’t say he wants him to stop, nor can he make him mad and make him want to stop.

HERE WE GOOOO:

Izaya is good at pretending to not be tired, so Shizuo has trained himself to notice things about Izaya’s movements, see if they’re labored or not, listening to his breathing, basically any nonverbal indicator that would show that Izaya’s tired. He will then make arrangements to make Sure Izaya gets in that fucking bed. His manipulation tactics have gotten stronger.

His resting bitch face was bad when he was single, but when he got into a relationship was when it really became bad. His emotions always show on his face and if someone gives him the impression they’re gonna run into Izaya, hit him, or even come close to him, he’ll yank him around to the other side of him. Izaya, who is perfectly capable of dodging these things, complains about his arm being pulled out of socket.

Can be rough on purpose with Izaya sometimes, but he really has come to try and be more gentle with Izaya. He tries not to leave bruises or push him too hard. If he notices a bruise or something he’ll stare at it and rub at it until Izaya gets annoyed and tells him to stop.

Sleeping Izaya is his holy grail. If Izaya is sleeping on top of him or in his arms, it is officially a No Touching zone. Izaya doesn’t just sleep around anyone obv but on the rare occasion he does Shizuo does not fuck around with someone getting close. He’ll kick you. Don’t wake the baby.

Offers to carry him up large flights of stairs so he doesn’t get too tired. Holds his hand when walking somewhere. If not holding his hand, he’s usually holding on to some part of him. If it looks like too much for Izaya to handle he’ll carry him without asking first.

So I’ve had this loooooong lasting headcanon that Shizuo has this fixation on watching Izaya do mundane things and admiring Izaya when he’s concentrated on something, so. 🥺🥺🥺 Thank you for letting me indulge in this:

Shizuo agreeing to play Chess with Izaya even though he’s bad at it and Izaya criticizes his moves the entire time, because Izaya will sit there in silence with a little smile on his face while he waits for Shizuo to make his move and Shizuo will still little glances just to see it because he’s so stinking cute. Izaya is cute, and handsome, and he gets the smuggest little grin on his face when he wins and Shizuo pretends like he cares just so Izaya will keep making it. What a whipped ass loser omg.

Shizuo enjoying the opportunity to watch Izaya sleep, brushing his hair back and appreciating the sight of Izaya in a state of calm and silence. He’s so cute when he sleeps and Shizuo feels deeply honored to get to have this opportunity. Izaya’s a light sleeper though so sometimes Izaya will wake up and embarrass him for staring. But most of the time Shizuo will just own up to it. XD Like yeah and?? You’re MY boyfriend. But like, say they had a fight and went to bed angry and he did this? Decimated. Shizuo, you lose. Checkmate. Ur done.

Watching Izaya drink milk tea from a straw, or frowning at his phone, or even sneezing and Shizuo’s heart is like… wow. He really just sits there being Izaya and doing those things. He’s gotta keep himself together ofc because like damn even a guy like him has dignity and also Izaya is still Izaya but damn. He forgets himself sometimes. Izaya will catch him staring and is like “😠 WHAT” and he’s like “nothing.” Or if he wants to destroy Izaya’s heart he’ll be like “you look cute when you x” because Izaya will either make fun of him and he can double down, or Izaya will get all tsun and tell him he’s stupid. It’s a win win. Compliments are Izaya’s greatest weakness.

They rarely dress up, but when they do Shizuo is floored. Izaya looks good in practically anything, so he’s gotta keep his shit together. Part of the reason why he withholds compliments aside from the fact that Izaya is annoying and doesn’t deserve them is that they make his heart rate go up and that’s bound to be bad for him to just do constantly right? Plus it’s embarrassing for him that he’s so in love with Izaya’s appearance now after hating it on first contact. What the hell happened?

It’s weird but when Izaya looks his ‘worst’ is when Shizuo admires his appearance most of all. Like if his hair is disheveled, if he has a headache, if he’s genuinely upset and gone all quiet, Shizuo enjoys looking at him but it makes him feel bad because it’s low key like he enjoys Izaya’s suffering. But that’s not what it is! Because Izaya is an incredibly secretive and closed off person, he doesn’t often show off his honest side and it frustrates Shizuo (but he loves him or something), so when these ‘bad’ things happen that force Izaya to show how he really feels, Shizuo finds it completely charming. Eventually he just found his whole being charming. The annoyances and being a bastard are all still there but it’s all surrounded by this encompassing feeling of being absolutely enamored with him so Shizuo doesn’t mind anymore.

Morning glace how are you ? 🥰 I was thinking about how when they were teenagers, Simon used to catch Izaya and Shizuo when they were fighting and sit them down in Russia Sushi and make them have a meal together. Is this actually canon? But also more importantly, please gives us headcanons on how these lil dinner dates would go 💖

It is! It’s canon in the novels and manga. Them having classes together and being forced to sit in the same room all day is also canon!

Anyway, here’s some headcanons I have randomly thrown together:

Izaya and Shizuo always left with something on their clothes, be it food or dishwater or blood (probably Shizuo’s).

Many a civil conversation was attempted in that restaurant and all attempts were fraught being as how Shizuo is a Bitch. Even when Izaya was just trying to pass the time, Shizuo assumed it was just to antagonize him and honestly when your only response to someone speaking to you is to feel antagonized then of course that’s what happened and what Izaya was trying to do.

If there was no bickering there was only complete silence because Izaya would get tired, and Shizuo would be so grateful for those moments. Because of Shizuo openly enjoying these moments, Izaya made sure to have as few of them as possible.

Izaya complained many times about being predominantly blamed for all the damages at Russia Sushi when Shizuo was the one always doing the act, but Denis would shrug him off and tell him he’s responsible because Shizuo wouldn’t have done it if Izaya wasn’t actively trying to piss him off all the time.

A lot of Izaya’s bitterness towards Shizuo formed here, and it’s also the place where they became aware of each other’s actual personalities which is why they can define each other so well to other people. Izaya’s insults towards Shizuo became harsher and harsher.

If they were ever in agreement about being mutually annoyed with Simon or Denis for being bossy or something, they’d be miserable about it. They wouldn’t even fight, they just sulk because how dare I have something in common with him. Just imagine them meeting each other’s eyes while Shizuo does the dishes and Izaya slices cucumbers before swiftly turning away.

One time Izaya cut his finger really badly and Shizuo kinda half heartedly teases him over it for being stupid and Izaya goes to the bathroom to have a quiet moment of frustration to himself (totally not crying) but when he comes back there’s a bandage and some ointment where his station was. He just assumed it was Simon. Shizuo still thinks about it sometimes.

When they went home ofc Shizuo chased him. Shizuo knows where Izaya’s childhood home is because of this.

When Izaya thinks about Russia Sushi now, he thinks about those days and wonders if he could’ve done anything different to improve his relationship with Shizuo.

Would Izaya and Shizuo kill for the other? If so, can you tell me how’d they’d react to each other and after killing someone?

Bottom line answer is yeah, I think they both would. It would definitely depend on the situation (I say this every time like a broken record I know lol but it’s true!), but the way they would react would probably stay in the same ballpark. The biggest thing would be that while Izaya would feel remorse on the inside, he wouldn’t express any regrets on the outside regardless of Shizuo’s reaction, and Shizuo would show remorse on the outside but on the inside he would be horrified to know that he’d willingly do it again the same way.

As for their reactions to the other killing for them, I think Shizuo would be disgusted and critical of Izaya’s actions, possibly to the point of even jeopardizing their relationship. He’s got a strong sense of self-righteousness (fckn Aquarius smh) and even knowing Izaya did it with protecting him in mind he’d have a hard time letting it go. Even if he thinks Izaya is in the right, Shizuo is hyper critical of Izaya anyway lmao and he just needs time to sort through his feelings about it. Izaya for his part is exasperated. If Izaya knows he’s in the right with a situation he does not have the patience to deal with what he sees as Shizuo’s bullshit.

Izaya’s reaction to Shizuo killing for him, however, depends entirely on Shizuo’s reaction to himself. If Shizuo is calm or more specifically non-remorseful about it, Izaya’s gonna be pretty angry. He’ll be angry regardless but Izaya can compartmentalize his feelings [special ability] and will prioritize whatever he can afford to. The chances are though, being Shizuo puts so much weight into his morals and worldview though that he will be freaking out over what he’s done and Izaya will do what he can to comfort him. Izaya’s the type of person who can’t fathom anyone doing anything self-sacrificial for him (please see: Shinra incident), so internally he’s just processing. Shizuo feels even worse because he knows that and Izaya spends so much time trying to make him feel better. Izaya is just so good at brushing things under the rug though that Shizuo can’t help but let him, entirely helpless.
