Yo I had an idea, what would Psychonauts be like as an analog horror story/arg? I feel like some shit could be done there

Hmmm interesting thought 🤔

As I understand it analog horror is made up of footage and media that (in theory) could have been recorded and/or broadcast in-universe, right? Like commercials, news broadcasts, old video tapes, ect? Local 58 and the Mandela Catalogue are the ones I’m most familiar with

I suppose something that could be utilized in the Psychonauts universe is transmitting mind altering images/videos thru the TV or Radio. The radio especially comes to mind since Oleander’s radio is brought up multiple times in both main games

While I’m not sure what the contents of the horror itself could be I think Morris should get to be a protagonist of this hypothetical, as a treat. He seems like he’d be the most into/most likely to come across signals that are transmitting some wild bunk

In a more general sense, I bet there’s archival documentation of psychic villains/events/phenomenon the Psychonauts or even potential other psychic related orgs have in their storage that could make for a fun horror type perusal if one was inclined to build up what those documents contain

Headcanon or something like

Raz making his own little ADHD pride pin out of like a bottlecap or something and a marker

n like he goes to otto's lab at some point n Otto asks about it n basically

"Where did you get that pin? I don't remember making one like that" "Oh yea- I made it myself! it has the ADHD pride flag and butterfly on it"

"ADHD pride flag? I thought that was just for the cool gays"

and long story short The Otto-matic is now selling pride pins for LGBT and Neurodivergencies.

Otto is really impressed by Raz's craftsmanship and gives him some pointers for the future bc Otto just fuckin loves making PINS and BUTTONS

the Otto-Matic gets swarmed by all the jr psychonauts and a good chunk of the adult workers the day the new pins come out. business with the funny little rock currency is booming

HEY GUESS WHO MAPPED OUT PSYCHIC GENETICS OF THE AQUATO FAMILY FOR NO REASON

I wondered how psychic-ness (ig) would kinda calculate passed down from generation to generation, so on a whim I decided to do this!

so with this pedigree I made in mspaint- I give to you... PSYCHIC GENETICS WOAAAHHh (will be represented with the letter P)

now- remember ALL this info was given to me in highschool and re-reaserched via google before making the pedigree.

So IF you don't know already, basic extremely simplified rundown is there's dominant and recessive forms of genes (most common example is eye color using 'b' as representive) dominant genes well- dominate and are more likely to show (for the eyes, the dominant gene means brown eyes, represented as B). and expressing recessive genes is more rare (for the eyes, recessive is represented by b and gives blue eyes)

Each person has a specialized genotype, which is specialized information that determines the phenotype, the phenotype is the characteristic caused by the genotype (Genotype combos are XX, xx, and Xx)

if you got a heterozygous genotype (Xx for example), the Dominant traits show, but there's a possibility that if you had a kid, they might show the recessive genotype, ANYWAYS

black shapes mean the person has homozygous dominant genotype, white shapes mean the person has homozygous recessive genotype, and the half black and white means heterozygous genotype.

This is purely my headcanons in a scientific doodle though, headcanons are headcanons! I just headcanon Dion and Tala got the short end of the psychic stick (bonus, that starting diagonal branch is bc I headcanon Lucy and Marona were twins)

I am pretty sure Lucy and Marona being twins is canon!

Things haven't been so great for me as of late

I will give it my best shot,

One hc that immediately springs to mind is in the immediate aftermath of Raz & Nona defeating Maligula (and I mean immediate like after that cutscene ends) the Psychic 7 are offered a temp place to stay at the Motherlobe while the Gulch is cleared out. However Hollis and the other agents got there they’re all heading back to just like. Relax? Chill the fuck out for a second? I just need somewhere to put everyone so they can call get dried off. Give em all towels they are wet and cold warm them UP.

I also think very hard about characters celebrating birthdays and very enjoy the mental image of Raz’s 11th birthday having the biggest, weirdest guest list in the world bc everyone Loves That Boy So Much

I have been diagnosed with Sheegor syndrome, instead of a brain there is Sheegor

Anyways, Headcanon-theory thing that Sheegor and Otto are related. I only really have one thing and it's that the body's color palettes are EXTREMELY similar if not the same! Same blue shade skin, same dull reddish-purple highlights, hell Otto even has yellow sclera if you look close enough!

and not really part of the theory but the dynamic of the two characters interacting would really balance each other out I feel. Otto being able to easily help his sister with extreme fear while Sheegor helps him actually figure out that something he's about to do/make might kill him and everyone in a 50 mile radius.

Also that her real name is Sally

Sadly I haven't had the time/energy to read all the amazing 0tt0 ideas, but I noticed something about the scrunkly today.

He's like the only one out of the 7 who doesn't get any closure(?) bc he hides all his problems and is REALLY good at making himself seem fine like damn even to Ford.

(Also I haven't seen anyone make the pun Otto-maton yet and it's a crime. so I will be coining that for my version of Otto's mind aka Mentalis Mechanics)
