Do people in your field use biorxiv? You could toss the pre-print up there and link it since that’s all open source. ����‍♀️

Oo i have actually never heard of BioRxiv! Thanks for sharing that with me bc that’s really awesome something like that exists. (Here’s the link to the About page for anyone curious). I’ll have to look into more and check with my PI and journal to see if this is something I can do.

They could always apply for REUs at other universities or internships in industry too

REUs (Research Experiences for Undergraduates) is a great idea! Here’s more info about REUs (including a link that includes a list of REU sites) from the NSF. 

I mentioned industry (as “biomedical/biotech companies”) but I totally forgot to talk about internships! So thanks for bringing that up!

my friend recommended nyx to me, so that's what i bought. i got their "high definition" base bc it seemed the most versatile.

Learn how to use the very fancy High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)/Mass Spec machine (Monday, Oct. 3rd)

Finish my genetics and biochemistry problem sets, which are due on the same day (by Tuesday, Oct. 4th)

Run my control experiment for measuring labeled DNA methylation using E. coli (by Tuesday, Oct. 4th)

Pass my genetics midterm (Thursday, Oct. 6th)

Get involved with a science outreach student org, meaning pick one of the five I’m interested in (by Oct. 15th)

Attend lab meeting for the lab I might be rotating with next (by November)

Run my real experiment for labeled DNA methylation using C. elegans (by November)

Finish my audiobook, Ready Player One by Ernest Cline (by November)

Read 2 papers for fun every week (anything I’m not assigned or need to read for my rotation; indefinitely)
