i think the lgbt vs queer thing is bc you’re actively reclaiming a slur by being “queer” and that’s inherently political. but it’s been so watered down that people insist on referring to the whole community that way bc it’s more “inclusive” (is it?) and cishets throw it around all willy nilly. i don’t identify with queer at all but i still love and am a part of the community in probably a more substantial way than a lot of these people who try to force it are so yknow. grain of salt

yeah that makes sense! mild confusion for me bc that point def rings true (or it would) but like you said, it’s so watered down and many people just act like queer isn’t a slur at all that it rings kinda hollow, though ofc so many people have differing opinions that it’d be reductive for me to try to make any broad statements on the matter (beyond my personal opinion)
