Ethics and Law
Knowing the differences between ethics and law and how they relate in some situations is important to understand. The law is law and never debatable, but ethics is different between everyone, in different words ethics is different for each person because humans’ beliefs are different in general. (Ethics and the law are not identical. Typically, the law tells us what we are prohibited from doing and what we are required to do. It is said that the law sets minimum standards of behavior while ethics sets maximum standards). (Tsahuridu, E 2015). The law is all about rules that people must follow because its illegal not to, in the other hand ethics are what people think is right to do and not right to do. In some situation ethics and law are the same, for example cheating in taxes, that is not legal and against the law as well as it considered not ethical at all. Ethics sometimes and in most cultures differ, what is not ethical in some culture is normal in others. It’s a bit complicated to connect law and ethics in some situation because again humans’ beliefs are different between cultures.
In conclusion, Ethics is moral philosophy, what is good and what is not. And Law is a system of the rules that people must follow. There are some similarities that Law in most cases is made based on what is right to do and what is not right, is it ok to cheat? Is it ok to steal? All that is considered illegal and unethical, its basic right behavior of humans. what we can conclude that law and ethics is closely related because law is about basic ethics that most humans agree on.
