A new Lawrence Minute to start your weekend. This one focuses on recent trip to Minneapolis where Lawrence students, faculty and alumni shared their talents.
At Lawrence, every graduating senior plans and executes a significant project or Senior Experience. For Eduardo Elizondo Rueda ’16, that meant 3-D printing a headset that will record thoughts in the form of electroencephalograms (EEGs, or brainwaves)! To create the headset, Eduardo used Lawrence’s Interdisciplinary Makerspace for Engaged Learning. This newly created space provides students with a collaborative learning environment and hands-on learning opportunities, allowing Lawrentians to take their concepts from idea to reality. The Lawrence University Interdisciplinary Makerspace for Engaged Learning was generously funded by an Associated Colleges of the Midwest Faculty Career Enhancement grant.
You’re first a prospective student, then an active (an usually insanely busy) student, and then finally an engaged alum.
“From the beginning this has been a huge collaborative effort." The latest Lawrence Minute features Thomas Sasani ’15 sharing his senior experience project.
What a fine crew of Lawrentians :-)
Have you met Kate Frost? Kate Frost is Lawrence’s Student Success Coordinator. Kate works with students in a variety of capacities – from transitioning to college, to problem solving, to overcoming academic barriers – maximizing their capacity for success. Kate encourages any student who wants to ensure they're meeting their full potential to join her class or meet one-on-one. We love having Kate be a huge part of the LU community.
We shared this video with the caption, "We don't take our LU Geology program for granite"...etc. etc. etc. LU alum David Peltier '92 responded with, "If you lead with a gneiss pun like that you're bound to lignite tuff responses from sedimentary alum. It's not your fault." Touché David.
