Laxus finds out from Porlyusica that the damage to his lungs from the Ethernano poisoning is permanent, and during a particularly strong bout of pneumonia, she informs him that there's a high chance that he won't recover from it. So Lucy volunteers to help Laxus accomplish something that he's always wanted to do but never had the time or courage for before - track down his mother, while simultaneously trying to fend off any suggestion from their guildmates that that this counts as a date.
