Hey that was super fun the other night! I Did that Skinterview with @theartofskinner at @athenbgallery for my solo/group exhibition "All of the Things". Did you go? I just woke up! Also that was a great night! Thank you to everyone who came to my solo-group show #allofthethings @athenbgallery last night. I've never been in a cotton candy hurricane before but I now know how it must feel. Spun out, sweet and warm vibes swirling all about. It's exhausting but well worth the experience. We installed exactly 100 pieces in the show! I gotta hand it to @brockbrake and @srtabg who run the space for going the extra mile in sorting thru all the things with me. And thanks to @optimistuey who contributed a Lil ink to the side of the #laycorp Waste management garbage fire truck. Respek! The show is up for a Month so Check it out!!! There were other peeps who came thru to support in many important ways that are too numerous to mention here. You know who you are -thank you big time. Also the cake was delicious. We were setting up right down to the wire when the gallery opened so I didn't even have time to take any photos of the event until it was closed and everyone went home. You can see some photos that Brock took on athen B's Insta page tho. He'll be updating it so follow them if you give a fuq about any of what I'm rambling about. Oh yea~ that #4wordsproject book tho! It was here in my mystery Vault so I'm going to bring it to the show on Sat @athenbgallery too! Well actually I'm only bringing 5 of them but they are signed copies by the illustrator of which whom I am. Over 150 illustrations of northwest forgeable sea life methodically rendered for over a year. The book'll tell you how to catch em and what's good or not and whatever. Written by a talented, knowledgeable and funny fella, mr Kirk Lombard @seaforager . Perfect for the end of the world and a must have for any worthy bug out bag. "The sea foragers guide to the northwest coast" will only be available at the show but the #4wordsproject Book I made will still also available to all of the people of the world until they are sold out. Just a mere 30$! Many of you have been asking "Lay, how do I gets this book if I'm not go at where you is?" And I tell them "PayPal, a shipping address and hooked on phonics are the answers my fine friend!" Oh hai! Here's a new 4Words project piece fresh from the head office. the 4 "words" chosen were:...ahem~ 1.unicornapotamus 2.pyro-flatulence 3.artcar 4.disco mirror ball Now I know what you're thinking- "hey Lay! The fuq? Some of those are not even words brah! Some are straight made up. So can like anyone make up any word now? Huh???" To which I would respond "easy, easy.. I know, I felt the same way." I told him the guidelines but he was too persistent. he tried hard to steer the drawing into specifics. Like "burnigmanesque" I warned him that the more you try to guide the piece the more you'll be disappointed. I mean I was going to have to draw a picture of an actual man burning in the lake of fire for his sins but thankfully we changed "BM" to dicomirrorball. Let it be known! I will never draw any picture related to the festival of the same name, ever. I'm not hating on BM mind you. I think BM is a great place to have experiences and do things. I just can't be a party to any organization that would have me as a member. And I warned him about the made up creature word but that's what he wanted. So what he got was a hungry hungry hippo "art car" fueled by "one (uni)corn" on the cob which as we know can be made into ethanol fuel. Its a cleaner burn and won't cause pyro-flatulence of the tail pipe but, what can I say, that 'potamus wanted whole, raw food not ethanol and those raw foodists are notorious for powerful gas so there yah go. What manifested was this lovely homage to the glorious works of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth and his hot rod monsters series. When I was drawing this I actually had forgotten memories of redrawing his pictures as a lil kid and obsessing over the lil details like "wiggle and zoom lines" which I haven't done since I was a kid. It was a rewarding experience and one of my favorite 4Words project I've done so far. So thanks for trying to subvert the dominant paradigm with your crafty trickery, person! Oh! Someone privately messaged me yesterday and totally explained what hashtags are for.
