Suncradle Shibamata Ekimae
Shibamata exists at a quiet crossing point— between the city and the countryside, between faith and leisure.
First recorded in the 8th century as Shimamata-no-sato, the area grew into a temple town during the Edo period, then transformed again when the railway arrived, becoming a destination for short escapes from the city.
The teahouses that line the streets today began as farmers’ side businesses. This is the place later remembered as the hometown of Tora-san— not as fiction, but as atmosphere.
In Shibamata, history isn’t staged. It simply continues.
