Of course he’d land himself in a lovely place with warm  soothing weather, clear blue waters, gorgeous skies and yet here he was being shot at. There was always a catch,  wasn’t there?                 “ Woah, hey! I’m one of the good guys! I’m on                 your side ! "

Sometimes even the most stubborn loner of a child could get lonely, which is why she opted to run with this band of misfits who - like her - had no real place to go or to call their own. Fabricated stories of where she had come from to fit in with them because who would understand?  Even though she knew this idea was beyond stupid she went along with it - just some part of her craving this concept of normalcy and acceptance and she somehow thought that this would get her that. Oh, how wrong she was when it came down to it.  Especially now when she was in a home that wasn’t hers, left behind by the group she would have labeled friend simply by social definition rather than the literal. ( Because if she went by literal then she’d not call a single one of them a friend, nor acquaintance. Just something there to fill some kind of void which they weren’t very good at. But it was, to Miranda, better than being alone.)   The scene was a mess and it was like that when they arrived here. Easy pickings, they thought. Grab a few left overs for pawning, get some cash, go from there. They hadn’t counted on the body that was left behind, nor the fact that law enforcement was already pulling up the drive as they were then trying to make their way out.  Perhaps friendship worked for them like it was in a work place. Last hired, first fired. In her case, last taken in, the first to be left behind. Just her luck to be so graceful and trip , falling flat on her face  leaving her no time to dart as soon as the door was open.  Being a loner clearly had it’s advantages.

            He was supposed to do his job, but the first thing he did when he arrived at the crime scene was staring at the woman who was led off by Danny to book her. Somehow she managed to bypass the security systems with such easiness. “Interesting.” What was he referring to?
