they roughhouse during their time at the castle a lot, but mr.l is just rlly a prideful bitch and def eggs o'chunks to challenge himself against the one guy there who looks the most capable and muscly (like everyone, he craves the embrace of a burly beefy man. but hes stupid and gay so ! initiating spontaneous battles it is !)

o'chunks feels (a little) bad for having a teammate who joined so late into their plan. so even though he gets the most worked up over him, he does get L to share a pint or two w him and, honestly, at that point their roughhousing is just an excuse to crash and relax together while getting drunk off their ass and laughing abt the stupid shit their teammates do.

it takes a while for luigi to remember his time at the castle post-game, but a different, more familiar/teasing side of him jumps out when he's w the minions, so like...their time at the castle i feel is rlly important to starting any possible romantics? luigi isn't gonna be as into the roughhousing, but he still rlly enjoys the emotional, physical intimacy of getting plastered w The Boys.

they laugh a lot w each other ! o'chunks thinks luigi says a lot of surprisingly ridiculous shit, and luigi's endlessly appreciative of having another guy by his side who's seen him at one extreme end of his personality, and still b comfortable and familiar around him.

ok, anyway, for me this really depends on if you’re talking about mr. l or luigi.

with mr. l you run into the immediate guarantee of it turning into- not physical abuse, o’chunks could wrestle mr. l in his sleep and still win, but- emotional abuse. mr. l does not have a single nice thing to say about anyone on his team at any point in his dialogue. the only thing he sounds impressed by at all is the dark prognosticus upon surveying the voided sammer kingdom. and… that’s not really a good thing to be impressed about, haha. and it’s easy to see o’chunks doesn’t really have any answers to insults (physically threatening mr. l during his introduction instead of firing back like mimi, looking distraught and grumbling about beard-tweaking when nastasia gives him some pretty horrible comments and chores), and they wear him down. even just by chapter 5 he’s willing to throw his whole life, and then his whole personality away. mr. l would feed off of that insecurity! probably to soothe his own insecurities. that’s not a relationship. that’s just vampirism. 

luigi on the other hand is willing to, like, not be an irredeemable asshole at all times. i’m not sure o’chunks and luigi have quite enough in common for there to be a good basis for relationship-building, so i’m not sure how the chemistry there would look. physical attraction and endless heckling and roughhousing might get them started, but luigi seems like the kind of guy who would get bored of that pretty quick. luigi likes going on wacky adventures (ttyd), and being a Large Ham (dream team), and interior design (luigi’s mansion), and talking about himself (every game where he talks). he just kinda stares at people who insult or tease him. 

meanwhile o’chunks is a very active and physical person. he’s got that aroma of Large Ham (breaking into an elaborate, and different, dance every time he successfully tosses mario), so that’s a good starting point for the two of them. but he also cares a lot about honor and following rules (his comments about his losses in battle, “no fighting on an empty stomach,” etc), while luigi kind of brushes honor under the rug if it doesn’t suit him (his partners’ versions of his stories in ttyd). i can see how that would be the subject of a lot of arguments between the two of them. actually, if chunky could get luigi to consider how he affects others, and luigi could get chunky to loosen up and pay more attention to himself, they could be a good influence on each other in that way. i imagine the two of them would really like posing together. 

slow burn? probably a slow burn ship, after any initial flare-up. i imagine it takes luigi a long time to, like, actually for real care about other people in his life. good recipe for a quick romance, disaster, and then a gradual growing warmth.

maybe it really is just me being a kinnie, but i just love this pairing together. they have a good dynamic; aka, mr. l is a little shit, and ochunks nearly kills him for it lol 

i also like it a little softer- mr. l’s whole asshole thing is a charade, and its really kinda born from his own insecurity’s about himself and his place in the count’s crew. he feels like an outsider, no matter how hard he tries to fit in, all the way up to his death- and that’s honestly, mostly his fault. nobody likes a dickhead, L. and w/ lchunks... ochunks welcomes him in. helps him find his place. helps him realize that he doesn’t have to put up the charade, i mean - ‘cause i feel like im the worst, so i always act like i’m the best’ - absolute mr. l statement? his self esteem is at rock bottom?? 

then, getting into post-spm lchunks w/ luigi- god. so valid. so pure. chunks and luigi living in the mansion together. better yet, ochunks camping out in the mario bros house until he can move somewhere else. you think their couch is big enough for this man? wrong. luigi trying to convince his friends that yes, this former-villain is his boyfriend and no, he’s not a villain anymore. god, its absolutely so valid yall
