“Landon? Are you alright?”
@compulsivecooper
Aodh was supposed to be napping outside of his tent, something he really honestly truly needed. However, the music and the sun and, most importantly, the festival, called to him. With a bottle of water practically glued into his hand, he strolled down the lanes of tents to where Landon was staying. “Hey, Lan. Want to go get some food?” Aodh held a hand to his forehead, shielding the sun from his eyes. He really should get a hat.

It was a sunny day as Aodh sat at one of the small tables outside of a cafe. The small patio was bustling with activity, but was still relaxing. He’d made plans with Landon to meet for lunch, and he only hoped the other showed up. His anxieties made no sense, but nevertheless, they were there. In his short time waiting, Aodh had already looked over the menu twice. He’d checked to see if Landon had texted to cancel six times. Aodh was about to check his phone once more when he saw Landon walking in the direction of the cafe. With a wide smile, Aodh waved. “Lan, I got us a table over here.”

Aodh stared at the giant cast on his leg. The muggle doctors said he wouldn’t be able to properly walk for weeks. Months, even. The surgery was a lot, but the medicine kicked in and he could barely feel a thing. Aodh only had a day or so more left in the hospital before he could see a proper healer and hopefully recover sooner.
He looked away from the cast as a shadow fell across the room. “I told the nurse I didn’t want any more visitors.” He grumbled, now facing the window.

Aodh finally left his grandmother’s house. He wasn’t ready to go back home, where he first heard the news, so he found himself knocking on the door to the apartment Landon shared with Finn and Darcy. “Landon? You in there?” He called softly.

Peace in the Valley | Aodh and Landon
Darcy had left the apartment about ten minutes ago. Aodh sat on the couch for that time, thinking maybe Landon would think he had the flat to himself and emerge from his room. That, however, did not happen. Aodh pushed himself off of the couch and walked towards Landon’s door. He didn’t expect an answer when he knocked, but it was worth a shot.
“Landon? I know you’re locked in your room. I just want to let you know that I’m here for you. You don’t have to come out or unlock the door or whatever, but just know that you’re not alone.” Aodh sat down in front of Landon’s door, letting his shoulder rest on it as he spoke. “I was at work today and this little old witch came in with a whole cooler full of sandwiches for the auror’s office. She was so sweet and gave me one for helping her there. She was an angel.” Maybe if Aodh acted like everything was okay, it would feel okay. “I, uh, I miss you, Lan. I don’t know what you’re going through but I want to help you. I don’t know what I can do for you. But if you ever do need anything, or just want someone to hang out at your door again, I’m just a text away.”
Aodh stopped speaking for a moment, but he still remained outside of Landon’s door. Even if the room on the other side was silent, he still wanted to be there. After a few minutes of silence on both ends, Aodh’s phone went off. He looked at who was calling, his heart sinking when he saw it was work. He answered the phone, his responses a quiet, “hello” “yes” and “bye” before he hung up.
“That was work. I messed something up when I was rushing to get out. I have to go back. I’m sorry, Lan. I wish I could stay longer. I want to be here for you. I will be back. I promise.” Aodh pressed his hand against the door, wishing he could reach through and hold Landon, if even for a moment. He stood after just a moment, tapping his fingers on the door three times before pushing away. “Goodbye, Landon. I’ll see you soon.”

“Hey there.” Aodh smiled as he sat down on the bench next to Landon, having lost Violette long ago. “Did you get ditched, too?”
