Elixir (an original poem)
As the bottle touched my lips I knew there would never be an escape I despised the liquid inferno As it rushed down my throat But I lust after the effects of this sweet nectar With this splashing courage I am a better version of myself But, oh, how soon the effects waned!! My body is shaking Gasping, grasping for this nectar that will Solve my complexity Hinder my bashfulness And obliterate my fears Where is my sweet, succulent solvent!? As night nears, it dawns its cloak and becomes the ultimate temptress My mind says to refuse But a part of me, the darker part, Has to follow To see where this mysterious temptress will take me next. I shall hinder you no more, my sweet goddess! I will follow you anywhere! As the bottle touched my lips I knew there would never be an escape And as the nectar scorched my blistered throat once more I knew then and there That I should've fled from my sweet temptress when I had the chance When I was not bound by the chains The chains of obligation The chains of desire The chains of lure The chains of lust The chains of addiction As the bottle touched my lips I knew there would never be an escape *Inspired by Carmen by Lana Del Rey
