Painting at Bataclan Paris
One of my favorite venues in Paris with an unfortunate sad history (Paris Terror Attack)
Produced several shows here and I always come across this painting
I respect how the venue still keeps this wall painting, with the visible bullet holes
It seems to state that ‘art does not kneel down to terrorism’
The late, great heroin-ravaged German diva, Velvet Underground chanteuse, actress, fashion model, Moon Goddess and Warhol Superstar Nico photographed onstage at at Le Bataclan in Paris in 1972. I love the embroidered red Mexican outfit she wore that night. To me, this represents Nico at the height of her beauty. She was the inscrutable Marlene Dietrich of punk, “possessor of the most haunting wraith cheekbones of the 20th century” and to this day, my all-time favourite singer.
I’ve blogged about the enigmatic Nico many times: her contemporary Marianne Faithfull reflects on Nico here; the historic encounter When John Waters Met Nico; Nico’s 1960s modelling days; how the old jazz standard “My Funny Valentine” (and heroin) connects Nico with Chet Baker; and finally, When Patti Smith Met Nico.
Tbh it's not a brilliant performance but there's so much love and sensuality between them you can't breathe. Please note: Carl's left hand at 3:05 and rings on the right one Peter's socks Carl with hat Peter using the guitar as a mirror
I hadn’t seen these men in 5 years !!! So happy to see them again on stage :) They’re the nicest guys, always happy to take their time with fans for a little chat. I missed them and their accent haha (they’re French Canadian ^^).
