Anna could have just bypassed all the angst and drama of “the song remains the same” if she just went to Sam himself and was like “Hey, I’m gonna erase you from history and/or scatter you across the universe so Lucifer doesn’t have a vessel. You in?” And that moron would go along with her.
And I couldn’t even blame him. It seems like that was a pretty solid plan. He’s in the center of all this because he’s THE vessel. He IS the problem. At the very least, that would have slowed Lucifer down and given the others more time to figure out a plan to fully stop him.
Of course the other issue would arise when Dean figures this out and loses it. Because as we know, the world means very little when compared to his little brother.
