Bette: Winning her second Oscar had been bittersweet. While Jezebel was a brilliant film, and was lauded as such, she knew full well that--whether it was good or bad--Gone With the Wind would overshadow it. She also knew that she would not play Scarlett O'Hara. Warner would only loan her to Selznick if he could loan Errol Flynn too, and she wasn't about to play opposite his Rhett Butler. She had the feeling that this was punishment for the failed lawsuit--as was the fact that she was making a movie with Flynn, one which was not Gone With the Wind, called The Sisters.
Despite her disgust with the whole thing, she showed up bright and early on set, ready to throw herself into her part and forget her co-star, whom she considered to be a one trick pony, as quickly as possible. "Nice to finally meet you, Mr. Flynn." she greeted him politely, but certainly not warmly, extending a gloved hand.
