how would they then react if the divide between the two tanks was taken away?
Well. You can imagine how upset Mc would be. They’re frightening enough as it is when there’s a huge wall between them and her- now there’s no protection. Now, all she can see is their huge silhouettes, their giant claws, their impossibly sharp smiles. Good luck getting her to ever sleep.
Sans: He’s very happy he can finally interact with her. He’s wanted to play with get to know her for SO long, getting more and more interested with her as weeks passed, only able to observe... the fact that she was separated from him by a glass wall only made his interest pique even more. He wanted the thing he couldn’t have. But unfortunately for him, he’s actually the siren Mc is the most afraid of- Orca sirens are universally feared thanks to their cruelty, intelligence and extremely effective group-hunt strategies. She tries her absolute damnedest to avoid him.
...
But let’s be honest. She could never outspeed him; especially when he has his sights set on her. It’s not uncommon to see him with a little struggling Mc tucked under one huge arm.
Red: Out of all of them, Red actually has the most difficulty during her introduction. Namely because he's so, so desperate to bite her- it's not out of maliciousness... we all know Red is the goodest boy. But his species is a common predator of hers, he bites things he finds interesting to find out what they are, and his intense feelings toward her are being muddled by his stressed and hungry brain. She's looking like a treat and a treat, yknow? He's positive she's too small to survive even a single bite so he's constantly holding himself back.
It also doesn't help that he's the one she goes toward to hide. The other two fuss and follow her so much that she naturally gravitates toward the only siren who seems to respect her distance; sure, Red’s an extremely common predator of her species, but he’s the devil she knows. Just because Sans has established himself as the alpha of the group doesn’t mean he doesn’t respect the damage Red’s jaws can do, so when Mc darts toward Red (who becomes flushed with protective instict and bares his teeth), Sans usually backs off.
It gets difficult to understand his feelings when he wakes up in the middle of the night to find she’s tucked up, asleep, just a few inches from him- hiding behind him in the night to avoid the other two.
Skull: He and Mc occupy entirely opposite ends of the ocean. They’re opposites in every way, too- he resides in the inky darkness that the sun has never touched, she the brightest edges of the bustling surface. He’s the result of gigantism in the crushing depths and she uses her small and agile form to dart from place to place in the light. She’s learnt to fear anything bigger than her that moves... and everything has learnt to fear him.
... So he's completely and utterly fascinated with her.
Small, soft, pretty, he wants to squeeze her until she squeaks. For a monster so large he’s incredibly sneaky and any moment she’s not concentrating, she’ll feel a tentacle attaching onto her, curiously investigating- and if she doesn’t pull away in time it’ll drag her in to the skeleton himself who is even MORE difficult to escape.
Despite their differences there is actually one thing they have in common... they’re both bioluminescent. He’s trying to make it a point of bonding.
