What is Asriel truly came back, but he’s not all there or maybe a little more is there then before.
This Asriel is not fully separate from flowey and so he takes on a new appearance. Partly inspired by the wooden horns of askfriskandcompanys Asriel. Mines sprouts flowers when happy, thorns when angry as well the lines on his face grow, he wilts when sad and if you spook him he’ll explode in leaves. Also I think that when he is stressed he just keeps growing more and more leaves, homework ends with a need for a leaf blower.
He still feels small and constantly tried to be seen as bigger than he is. He has an affinity for bugs except caterpillars which he is deathly scared of.
Having emotions is still a very new thing for him and having to get back to practicing empathy has set a lot of growing pains. He hates being underestimated even if he is under powered for the situation and struggles with a god complex.
He tends to hang around Papyrus and Alphys preferring their company to his parents. He thinks papyrus should be a good influence on him and will accept no disrespect to his mentor. Papyrus is thrilled to have someone want to be as great as him.
I think this would lead to monster kid and Asriel hanging out too. And maybe Undyne for training.
