Instead of a new sketch to close out this month of #leafycarnivores here are some progress sketches for some of those final pieces. It’s been great fun to join @laurelinrian for her #2018dailycreature project this April! I’ll be spending this week finishing up final illustrations that will be available for purchase. Late in the day, today’s #leafycarnivores sketch is Sarracenia Minor. For me the most striking element of this plants pitchers are the well defined white spots. The shape of its hood also gives it a bit more of a frog like character. #sketches #sarraceniaminor #carnivorousplants #botanicalillustration #2018dailycreature

I’m excited to join my awesome friend @laurelinrian for her #2018dailycreature this month - #leafycarnivores ! We discovered a shared obsession with keeping carnivorous plants, and when she let me in on the theme I couldn’t resist. Starting with a page of sarracenia purpurea sketches to get past a bit of self consciousness over rough process sketches - notes to myself and wee thumbnails of ideas included.
