Telemiracle 36 !!!
I spent last weekend in the beautiful province of Saskatchewan to part take in the 36th annual Kinsmen Telemiracle (A 20 hour telethon broadcast LIVE on CTV Saskatchewan). I left feeling humbled, grateful and a little bit.. well, exhausted lol but most of all completely inspired and in awe of the generosity of the people of Saskatchewan!! :)
Let me say first- $5,906,229 was raised!!! That's right $5,906,229! :) All that money raised will be used to buy special needs equipment and access to medical assistance to Saskatchewan residents, groups and health foundations to improve quality of life and independence. A mouthful, but in a nutshell a great cause! It was a crazy weekend with huge learning curves for me. My first live TV performances, PR appearances and even hosting part of the 20 hour long telethon into the wee hours of the night!
I had a chance to see and meet people who's lives have been changed through funding from previous TeleMiracle's, allowing me to see just how important Telemiracle is. Looking back, I know that being apart of Telemiracle has turned out to be one of the most meaningful things I have ever done. But I gotta say, it was watching the hundreds of volunteers work tirelessly and endlessly to ensure it's success that was truly inspiring. The province of Saskatchewan really knows how to take care of it's people and just how important giving back is. That spirit is what I take home with me and hope to spread in my own community. Thank you to the all Kinsmen and Kinette volunteers. You are beautiful people inside and out! :)
