Considering it seems like I keep finding more and more reasons to make James and Sam canon in my series, I think it would be a little hypocritical of me to say no!
🌹 Who fell harder & who fell first?
James fell harder, and Sam fell first.
James has zero experience with love before meeting Sam, unless you count some small crushes he had growing up. So, he didn’t realize what his growing feelings towards Sam were at first, but when realization hit, he fell HARD! Coupled with the fact that James had no clue what to do about these new feelings, he was a mess for a little while until things between him and Sam got figured out.
Sam fell first, not terribly long after meeting James. At the time, he wasn’t ready for a new relationship, but he didn’t ignore the growing feelings. He let the feelings grow over time until he was ready to tell James how he felt. He recognized his feelings from the beginning, and while he didn’t fall as hard and fast as James did upon realizing his feelings, Sam’s love for James grew bigger every day regardless.
🔥 What’s the pettiest thing they’ve ever argued about?
Not sure if “pettiest” is the right word to describe the cause of the argument, but they once argued over who Leonard (James’s dog) liked more. The argument technically went on for days as they tried to convince each other who Leonard loved more and spoiling the dog to win his favour. In the end, the argument ended in a tie as they were unable to agree on a winner. (Leonard was the real winner because he got as many treats, snuggles, playtime, and love as he could ever want with the two doting on him.)
😳 What’s the most embarrassing thing they’ve walked in on the other person doing?
For Sam, it was “walking in” on James while he was skinny dipping. Sam had only been told that James had gone for a swim in the lake near his hut, so he went to find his boyfriend and join him for a swim. However, no one told him that James didn’t own swim trunks (in hindsight, Sam should have figured James didn’t have any swimming clothes), so he didn’t understand why James looked so embarrassed when Sam arrived. Once James managed to nervously explain what was happening, Sam suddenly didn’t want to swim anymore. This was early into their relationship, so Sam and James have since gotten over the embarrassment and go swimming together all the time now.
For James, it was when he walked in on Sam (who was in his wolf form) chasing his tail. When in wolf form, canine instincts are heightened, and Sam is more likely to give in to them than when he is in his human form. At the time, Sam hadn’t felt embarrassed since his wolf was happily chasing his tail. It wasn’t until later when James told him that Sam immediately turned bright red and avoided making eye contact for the rest of the night.
👀 Who gets jealous more easily & how obvious are they about it?
Both can get pretty jealous, but James is a little more prone to it since Sam is much more sociable than he is, so Sam is more likely to have others gravitate toward him than James is. James isn't very obvious about his jealousy, at least not to those outside his family and Sam. Others just think he’s being scary and intimidating when he glares at them, but those who know him well can see past the glare to find the hidden insecurity.
🍳 Who cooks & who sets off the smoke alarm trying to help?
Both are pretty good cooks, but Sam has been known to set off a smoke alarm or two over the years. The only reason James hasn’t is because his hut doesn’t have a smoke alarm. Sam calls it cheating, James just laughs.
🛌 Who hogs the blanket & who ends up freezing dramatically?
Sam is the blanket hog. James is pretty used to sleeping in colder weather from living in the woods without modern heat, so he lets Sam get most of the blankets. Sometimes, he’ll pretend to be annoyed by the blanket stealing, but he finds it cute when Sam wraps himself up in a blanket cocoon, so it's worth being a little cold, especially when Sam will cuddle close to him in his sleep.
😴 Who falls asleep first & who watches them with heart-eyes?
James falls asleep first because Sam is a night owl, unlike the hunter. With Sam staying up later than James, he’ll often have the time to admire his sleeping boyfriend before joining James in the land of dreams.
🩸 Who would literally kill for the other & who would help hide the body?
Both would frankly do either role. Though Sam might be more likely to actually kill someone… And of course, James would help hide the body.
This ship started as a random post by Katrina so long ago, and we thank her for creating it! (At least that’s how the ship started for me.) I love these two so much, and the probability of them becoming canon in my series is very high!
