on the subject of having sentient plant-based images of oneself who got exiled to the ocean: watermelon or broccoli is better?
Hey. I just want to say. I forgot completely about this SU subplot and thought this was an elaborate Silmarillion-related pun and have been avoiding looking at it for that reason, out of a kind of respectful horror. So, sorry about that. To answer the question, um, the watermelon Stevens are cute and I like their crunchy teeth, but also I am very, very biased.
do u have a favourite Ainu in terms of fanart, or a fav interpretation in particular? :D
sssskkkdjshdjhf uh, faves for fanart generally i think are sauron and varda - they have the largest scope of variety and creativity in terms of designs, styles, personality/atmosphere/activities the fanart is depicting the characters engaging in, etc. And often they’re just the most beautiful too – the varda + stars/night sky combo lends itself so well to really striking artwork, and sauron with his wealth of canon symbolism (rings, eyes, wolves, fire and lava, forges, etc) has a lot of fodder.
My single favorite interpretation of an ainu in fanart is P R O B A B L Y this Melian design by @piedpica >_o

ghoul i haven't had the chance to backread your TDE tag (busy w work & also laptop is haunted); if you would - what are the most important and/or enjoyable things about it? for starters :D
The most important thing for me personally is the idea of ambient divinity--this is why it is called the divine engine. Everything is alive, and everything can be spoken to! This is a thing that is true in real life, as long as you are a witch. The other thing that is important in theory is that people playing it will feel like they are together and depending on each other and building relationships. In practice this doesn’t work yet because, uh, it’s hard to make people feel things. But we are working on it.
The most enjoyable thing is the worldbuilding, because I am a genius. People seem to be consistently delighted by the fact that you can play a lil plant dude or a psychic spider or whatever, and also they like my god concepts, which is gods of perfect aesthetics and gods of oracular bees and gods of genetic engineering, et c. It’s sort of aesthetically about how life is everywhere and also you can play as that life. Sometimes you live in a convenience store in an abandoned mining camp on the corpse of a god, you know?
