Ah, look who made a come-back to the wrock-stage.
hello!
my name is emma jani. this is a new sideblog of @iosaturnalia (which is no longer a fandom blog but really just a mish-mash of everything i find funny or nice). here’s a little background on me:
i’ve always been a big fan of harry potter (when i was in elementary school, i legitimately made all the other kids start a LARPing group with me lmao) but my love for it it kinda died out in highschool--ironically, during the time when i should have felt most kinship and connection towards the characters. sure, i still could tell you in an instant what my house was and what i thought of the others, or who my favorite characters were, and i could quote ‘a very potter musical’ like no tomorrow, but the *magic* wasn’t quite there anymore.
well, the weekend before halloween, leakycon 2016 was hosted at a hotel literally down the street from where i grew up, so i knew i had to go. my good friend @wrocksnob-blog (whom i will not call by name because they are ~oh so mysterious~) and their partner @roboslap (my former roommate and one of my dearest friends), were kind enough to let me crash in their hotel room so i could attend the convention. and honestly, it was life-changing. i had never interacted with the harry potter fandom on any level really, and it was overwhelming to meet so many new friends, as well as people who are veritably famous within the fandom. i did feel a little odd being so new to the “leaky experience” and it seemed as if everyone already knew each other, but through my friend the wrock snob (and just because the con was so small and intimate), i was able to meet some of the biggest names in wizard rock (harry & the potters, draco & the malfoys, the whomping willows, tonks & the aurors, tianna & the cliffhangers, etc etc etc). as an aspiring singer/songwriter and an actor, it was incredibly important and inspiring for me to meet these people who had married music and fandom into something so loved by so many people.
i am honestly so grateful to my friends for re-introducing me to this fandom, and for sparking this love in me which i had nearly forgotten. what a wonderful fandom. i’m proud to be in it.
