She was 1 of the many entrepreneurial designers and sellers who were given a chance to make their retail dreams come true in a prime location at low cost. This is what built the artist community that the West Village is known globally for, yet has lost its core due to gentrification and the pursuit of money before the needs of its people who made it great. This young designer studied me as her long time customer in knowing exactly what I would love. She found this piece of fabric at a fabric scrapes store and created this- 1 of my all time favorite wardrobe pieces, which I will forever cherish as a haute couture art piece because of the way it makes me feel- confident, sexy and powerful- All of the best feelings of being a woman! This young designer, who worked her ass off to finally buy a rundown building- which she built into a living, working and retail space of her own dreams- lost her space and dreams through gentrification. - "My role as a designer is to make a woman feel her very best... There's always an emotional element to anything you make... Fashion is a trend- Style is within a person...Everyday, you have to reinvent yourself...
