Does anyone else have trouble with parents not believing how severe or real your learning disabilities or mental health problems are?

learning disability problem #47658: I still can't add or subtract time properly. Or tell time on analog clocks without thinking about it.

Algebra is so frustrating. I can understand the process but the way my brain processes the actual information screws up how I work through problems. If I fail math again this term, I need to figure out how to get a waiver so that I don't have to take it again.

My name is [birthname] Anderson, but I prefer to be called Z. I am enrolled in your [title of class] class on [day] at [time]. I would like to speak to you about my disabilities and how they may affect my participation in your class. Unfortunately, I was not able to get in contact with [disability services] in time to have a full explanation from her available yet; however, as it is very helpful for me to know my teachers before the class's beginning, I would prefer not to wait, if possible.

Today would be most convenient, as I intend to visit the campus to become better-acquainted with it; however, I understand if this is not possible. Please tell me when you are available to meet with me, as I am available at most times of the day. I can take as much or as little time as necessary; if you insist on a shorter time, I may insist on further communication via email to supplement.
