My Revamped Summer 2019 Study System
Hey there! It’s me again :)
I wanted to share with y’all the revamped system I put together for my first of two summer classes this year!
After that tremendous rebound from failing all four classes to making A’s and B’s, I was searching for just the right motto to put on this 8″ binder. This is what I settled on, and honestly it is just what I need to keep me motivated. Most other motivational quotes are like “you got this!” or “do it or else” or “do it for future you!”
... yeah those don’t work on me. I know they’re just pixels and they can’t make me do diddly-squat. But dang, it really feels fantastic to be proud of something you worked really hard to accomplish!
Here’s the inside. In the pocket are some stickers I put on finished units as a reward. The only problem was I rewarded myself for finishing the pretty, revised notes but not the Ugly Notes. Near the end, I fell into the same problem as I did in the spring semester, where I got so busy that I didn’t bother rewriting the notes. I still learned the material, though, so I guess it worked anyway.
The first section is just notes on the syllabus, since everything was PDFs I would have had to download, print, fold, and freehand hole-punch... I just rewrote the important information instead -- course objectives, grading percentages, and the course outline/assignment schedule. I referenced this a LOT.
Here are some sample Ugly Notes. After a while, I didn’t bother to use the actual Cornell Notes method... Oh well.
(do noooot tell me I spelled “communicate” wrong. I realized as soon as I finished the entire front-and-back page. I was not about to rewrite everything.)

Overall, I think I’m getting to a good place. I’m actually looking forward to studying these days! Too bad I discovered I actually like studying now that I only have 3 semesters left before graduating. Either way, I made an A- in this course and I feel like this is the first one I’ve actually... retained information from(¯―¯٥) Oh well. Onwards and upwards!
