Tips and Tricks to help learn french (or any other language)
So I’ve started a blog called @learningtolanguage; where I will be doing the Summer Language Challenge (find it here) and I would love it if y’all could go give it a follow, send me any tips you have on learning languages, basically I’d really appreciate it if y’all could help me out, re-blog this post, offer me a little support etc! More details on what I’m doing are on the blog, so yeah, it would really mean a lot :)
Just a little update; I’ve made a list of things I can do to help me on my journey to learn French. This is what I have come up with so far, any more suggestions would be amazing! Thanks for all the support I’ve gotten so far it really means a lot :)
S U M M E R L A N G U A G E C H A L L E N G E - W E E K 1
So I’ve just finished week one of the summer language challenge, so far so good in my opinion. I have a 7 day streak on Memrise, I’m mainly learning key vocab on there at the minute. I also started using Duolingo 2 days into the week because it helps me more on the grammar side of things; for example it helps you understand the rules of french, such as silent ‘H’s and the correct gender to use for objects etc.
My targets for this week are to watch at least 2 english films with french subtitles and to make a french playlist on spotify so that i can listen to some french music. Over this past week I’ve had help from a lot of sources, they’ve been supporting me and giving me resources. One person who’s really been a big help is @newtonscabander who’s sent me pics of the units in her french text book and a link to a really helpful resource which you can find HERE
Before wrapping this post up I thought I’d try and write a little sentence in french, using the vocab and skills I’ve learnt this week. Hopefully most of it will be correct but if not then please don’t hesitate to let me know, I need all the help and constructive criticism I can get so don’t be afraid to point out any of my mistakes!
Salut ! Je m’appelle Chloe, comment tu t’appelles ? Je suis une fille. Je vais tres bien ! Comment ca va ? Au Revoir !
I hope that there weren’t too many mistakes! Obviously I realise that I couldn’t do any of the fancy lines on things like tres and ca but other than that i hope it’s alright! It’s not much but it’s more than I could do at the beginning so it’s a start!! Maybe y’all could reply back in french? It could help me try and translate and then also kind of stimulate a real conversation?
I’VE GOT SOME SHIT TO SAY
I’m rebooting my french studyblr ( @learningtolanguage ) which I unfortunately had to abandon last summer, go check it out and if you’re french/studying french slide into my askbox and give me some tips ;)

WHERE I’VE BEEN ...
A lot of stuff has happened since the summer holidays, family stuff, I started college, got my GCSE results back etc, so unfortunately I was unable to continue with the Summer Language Challenge and I’ve been unable to continue learning french.
But I’m Back!
I’m here to continue on my journey, although I’m still at college ad working hard I’m going to continue learning french to the best of my abilities. Here’s what I’ll be posting on the blog so you can get an idea of where the blog is heading:
updates on my progress every other week.
reblogs of different resources to help both myself and anyone else striving to learn french/improve on their french.
pictures, audio, videos etc will be posted alongside my updates.
Let me know if there is anything else you’d like to see on this blog, don’t hesitate to send me an ask if you have any questions, can give me some tips/resources or just want to chat :)
