Recently a few people asked about how the pole spins because they didn't realize it could spin independently! Here's a video that demonstrates that - you can actually see that the pole is spinning on the left and that it is not spinning on the right (watch the line near the top of the pole - the light reflections give the impression it's spinning, but the line never moves). There are different tricks you can do on spin vs static. As you can see, I can spin faster and longer on spin than I can on static. But I can also hurl my body around the pole on static - on spin you have to stay more or less in line with the pole as you spin. Hope this helps visualize it!
