Our daycare actually banned all peanut/tree nut products. There's a big sign on the board before you enter the child care area saying they're not allowed & they will be thrown away if you pack them (& the child provided with something else to eat). A little boy with a severe peanut allergy went into anaphylactic shock because on of his friends offered him a bite of his sandwich. It wasn't a peanut butter sandwich, but the knife had been used on peanut butter for his sisters sandwich.
I'm fairly certain the school district I'm in, the elementary schools have a peanut ban. But we have a small school district (maybe 40/50 people in a senior graduating class) so it's fairly easy to contain.
